I agree with you to a point, and here's the point.

The Israeli's want peace. They could march in and kill every Arab in their land -- if they wanted to. But they don't want to. All they want is to be left alone.

The Arab's don't want peace. They attack Israel constantly, either to murder Israeli's or to force the Israeli's to counterattack. The Arabs could get peace at any time -- just by ceasing the attacks.

This isn't a situation where there are no good guys and no bad guys. The Muslims purposefully target Israeli civilians. The Israeli's do everything in their power to limit civilian casualties. The Muslims cowardly fire rockets at schools and then hide amongst the civilian population. The Israeli's are forced to root out the murderers and sometimes innocent people get hurt.

As Golda Meir once said, "We can forgive you for killing our sons. But we will never forgive you for making us kill yours."

 

If they weren't afraid that it would be too much for American public and would force the politicans to withdraw USA support of Israel, they would have done it long time ago.
That is the reason even when they decide to massacer Palestinian like in Lebanon, they will use their soldiers as support and let the falange to take care of rape and murder of women and children.

What we have been talking about here has been yet another example of a suicide bombing. Where no wartime conditions were present, one group of people find it acceptable to strap explosives to themselves in order to murder innocent children who have absolutely nothing to do with any conflict. It's a heinous terrorist act. But as long as it's not anywhere near gworld's concern, he couldn't even show any concern for these Jewish children than he would dog poop.

America is made up of many different refugees who fled from inhumane conditions, some are fewer generations from the creation of America. For all gworld cares, the people slaughtered in Darfur can go to hell before he'd even think of parting with a quarter. I've taken out some of my time to help people who have nothing to do with me because I realize my good fortune of not being born in their shoes - and they are left to slaughter if someone isn't providing support. Fortunately gworld doesn't stand for all Americans who also realize that our own existence is dependent upon many other factors around us. He'd rather befriend and defend those who caused 9/11 - or so he says - while he thinks they aren't in his back yard or indirectly getting his tax dollars through other means...

As was stated above, it's impossible to make peace with terrorists whose sole mission is to kill you. Getting to a place of peace will require many more efforts than just Abbas and requires the entire Middle Eastern region to pitch in for the problem they've caused.
