I don't see why not...I think it's very interesting to hear all perspectives of the world we live in. The world isn't bland, why should the web be. I prefer web pages that take up the whole screen, but over all it's a pretty solid start. Keep it up.
I do like the writing and it's a very clean template, the only thing I would change would be the font for the titles, as it comes through being kind of pixelated to me. As for comments, I don't think you'll end up with too much negativity. Most of us whities don't think of black people as being inferior and would have no reason to comment negatively, though you might get a few whackos out there from time to time.
Where did that come from ?? I didn't even know that, that was a consideration. I am sure that Cosby, and Oprah, Condolesa Rice, Colon Powell, and Barack Obama will be glad to here that we aren't in the year 1947 anymore.
