While checking my keywords on Google, one of my competitors site was displayed with several other links to her site with related keyword links, This was in the organic results. Has anyone seen this, and if so, how is this done? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=patchwork+quilts&btnG=Google+Search Curious....
Those are just "site links" and Google gives them to websites they feel deserve them. Some say it's a sign that a website has gained "authority status" .
How does Google determine what is authoritative? Our PR and back links are about the same. I have applied every trick I learned in this forum. I added articles, H1 tags, text in all my alt tags, meta data on each page, a site map, a navigation panel with a link to my home page, none of which is this other site. I know I should improve my content, especially through my blog. I am also planning on migrating to a better hosting service. Both are on my very long list. But the SEO efforts I did paid off and moved me from page 3 to page 1. So what am I missing?
I have not seen that format before. And I don't understand why every number one site doesn't get that extra exposure. What is the significant difference?
Google decides who they list like that. If they feel your site is one of the top sites they will do it for you.
You will generally see authoritative or trusted sites having them, but Google has never officially confirmed the presence of sitelinks as a sign of authority. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=47334
The presence or absence of these sitelinks, at least in my experience for my site, seems to be pretty random and unpredictable. From one day to the next, when I check my Google Webmaster Tools, I may have some Google-generated sitelinks, then see them disappear 24 hours later, only to reappear still later. I will give them this — the sitelinks that Google has generated for my website do indeed seem to be the ones I myself would have featured if given the chance to do so. So their algorithm is doing something right in the area of relevance.
My friends dont confuse if you are not aware of what is sitelinks and what is product search result. 1) sitelinks are appearing for each and every site which is selling different category of products. Merely type the domain name of that site and look the result 2) product search results are completely different than that, It is not relating to a particluar site but mulitiple sites are appearing for the search result and that funda is completely different. How it can be possible has several methods. So don't confuse any newbie unless you have any knowledge about it.
