Microsoft have hotmail, but Yahoo have there mail and messenger as well so that is some competition for them. If they take Yahoo look at the lengths they can achieve.

Microsoft does not really have a big website, with news, sports, music etc but with Yahoo they will make a presence with all of that. Also in the areas like Tech, Gaming they can advertise their consoles and softwares.

They will be profiting on the different Yahoo Services and expanding their network is my answer for Microsoft eager to buy Yahoo.

its always about competition since day one... the heat was really coming to microsoft and they obviously wanna be no.1 in almost everything (software : vista, microsoft office.. u name it) so they obviously need yahoo to be no.1 on the internet... big companies.. big competitions.. always hated the G monopoly

In 2006 Microsoft brought in a profit of 43 billion...
now, they are bringing in about 13 billion a quarter.

Bill Gates net worth is around 60 billion, but Microsoft as a company has a hell of a lot more :D.
