Do free link exchanges really work..... thru one of them i got 128 other sites to link to my site..... but do they really work.. my PR has not increased... nor is my traffic thru referrals!
Are those links related to your niche? Getting links all over the place can help overall, but in the long run related links are best, as they will result in human traffic, which can generate additional related links as they talk about what you have already talked about. However, even with related links, visibility is a very important matter to look into. 1000 links from 1000 pages no one is going to look at is about as worth while as writing your link on pieces of paper and flushing them down the toilet. Continue building your links through exchanges, but put more focus on one way links, relevant links, and most of all content (linked internally). That will help generate SERP as the more content you have, the more search engines will like you, and the more pages you'll have in their indexes. Try blog comments ~ by adding in content to the blog you comment in, along with a relevant link to your pages (you'll have better chances of getting the comment approved if you are adding something worth reading). Try article submissions ~ take existing articles, re-write them (so they are not duplicates) and have them point back to your main site. Try directory submissions ~ alter your anchor text and descriptions, this will help the directory not get hit with duplicate content, and help push the power of their links). Try forum signatures ~ You are posting any way, might as well make the best of it... but again, see what I said about blog comments. Try link exchanges ~ which you've already been doing, but in the future look at the quality of the sites you are linking too, and from, as quality is important.
If you got 128 from one link, I think you answered your own question. Imagine the same results times 500 and you'll start to see some results. and yes, blog submissions, forum signatures, repurpose content and submit to iSnare and other content aggregator/distribution sites
Yes, the free link exchange still works if you know theory of linking for SEO purposes. If you want to put some links of other sites to your homepage, I suggest you to avoid the PR0.
You can't expect much referral traffic from links pages. If you use the right anchor text however, you can expect traffic from the resulting SERPs.
it still works somewhat but its lot of work managing a link exchange campaign. you will be better off by targeting one way links. that way you don;t have to worry about who removed your link and you go remove theirs as well...
as ive heard millions of times here: Any link is a good link if you only did 1 link and got 128, thats 128 backlinks to yoru site. Yes, they are probably un-related websites to your n iche, and the visitors of that site wont go to yours because they arent interested, but it is building up your Backlinks, which could turn out to be a great investiment over time.
You can't expect more from these free links. Because Google knows that it is a free link provided they have advertised in few forums...
how would google know its a free linkback because people have advertised in forums? google is an algorithm, not a guy being paid to sit and read through every forum on the net and find people saying "free linkbacks here" to google, the links he provides in his advertisments on forums are nothing but another linkback to hit site, amirite? and if hes not putting a link back to hit site, then theres no links at all, in which case google wouldnt know -anything-? granted: if his site is getting 100+ unique links a day, it might arrouse suspicion...
