ICQ may be an old technology, but I do use it once in a while. Today, I realised that I could not log on to ICQ with my password... oh gosh! My ICQ was hacked! I verified the information over the web, and realised someone has taken over my UIN, now that person is called Yurko2! This really sucks! Anyway, luckily my activity in ICQ wasn't that high these days, but this UIN has been with me for 10 over years! I can't bear to lose it to some a##h~~~ hackers!!
If your ICQ was hacked, it was probably part of a larger security problem on your computer or with your practices, such as using the same password on questionable sites, sharing your password, having a keylogger or trojan on your computer, or having been compromised in some other way. At this point, I would be concerned that you have larger problems. Does any activity come to mind that could have left you compromised?
I believe that my computer is perfectly safe from keylogger and spywarez like that; as I monitor quite closely what types of traffic packets that go in and out my system. Neither do I leave password like that on questionable sites... I do believe it's something like that person managed to "bang and go" kind of thing.
very sad news, is there any secondary email address when you signup icq ?? contact with icq team quickly
I am already using MSN, it's just that ICQ is an account that I hardly use it for communication; but just want to have it. It is highly possible, but it is definitely not my system that has compromised any security issue. No, unfortunately, I did not have any secondary email address when signing up with ICQ; it doesn't exist 10 years ago during the registration. Anyway, I am really flustered and started a ranting post here - just to make myself feel better. *sigh***
I did not forget. I always enter my password everytime I sign on. So, I could not have forgotten it. Unable to do so... I haven't got a clue. Nowadays, I get so paranoid that my other accounts may get hacked eventually, e.g. Hotmail, GMail, etc.... *sigh*
