Hi, I was thinking about writing an ebook that I would like to sell. Approximatly how long should the ebook be in order for the customer enjoy it. What I mean is that obviously a sentence or two is too short and a 100 page essay is too much because the reader would not like to read that much. So what would be the perfect number Also, do I write the ebook in word and convert it to PDF? Do I just change it when saving or is there a special program. Any ebook tips would be helpful Thanks,
That would depend on the subject matter, who your target market is and how much you're going to charge for it. What's more important than word or page count is how informative your product is and whether you're giving real value to the reader. If it takes 100 pages to do a good job, then people will appreciate that. On the other hand, if it takes you only 25 well-written pages to say what you need to say then that's going to be better received than 100 pages of rubbish, IMHO. But then again, you can't just bang out a 2-pager and call it the Definitive Guide to ______. You would write the document in Word and convert to PDF after you've finalized it. Don't forget to number your pages. That makes me crazy when papers are flying out of my printer and I have to spend time sorting it out. There are free PDF converters, OpenOffice being one of the better ones.
The book should be up to the point and should be long enough to explain everything clearly. I generally use openoffice for pdf documents. Its free and pretty good.
Do you have other ebooks, or are you new to the scene. How do you plan to market it if you don't have an established base?
Would anyone recommend the best sites to find e-books with resale rights, or any wholesale ebook sites? I have a topic but it's technical and I don't have the ability to write it. Has anyone tried ebookwholesaler.com?
I have not made an ebook yet. So any tips on making a landing page (if thats what its called) and marketing would help. Thanks,
Yeah making a .pdf file is actually pretty simple if you have a program like OpenOffice. You just export it and save it as a .pdf and you're done. The more difficult part is going to be creating an e-cover, but there are plenty of tutorials and templates for that too if you just search a little.
How would the landing page look like? Is it only like the description and Buy it now paypal icon? I have a friend who can do a e-cover for me so theres no problem in that? How do I do it so that if someone buys the ebook, they can be sent to the download page? Do I do that in paypal?
You would want a sale pages, with good copy that will persuade the visitor to buy your ebook. Your sale letter, buy button, testimonials if you have any, bonus offers , etc. would be on this page. Yes, you can send the buyer directly to your website for the download link after paypal, but I would recommend using a secure delivery service for that. I run a proofreading and editing service for ebooks that will set up your ebook ready for download, pm me if you're interested.
