Ok, I hope I'm wrong but in case the economy officially does go into a recession... does anyone know what niches might do good in a bad economy? I noticed after 9-11 that people still liked to go to the movies. I could guess entertainment areas will stay afloat? Any ideas for recession proof niches would be interesting to hear about...
LOL!! Good one! Well, we have a pretty good list so far... we have: Entertainment - movies and such Pain killers - drinking & drugs Job related sites Mortgage refinancing, loans, etc. Suicide counciling Depression - coping with, cures, etc. Fuel economy Here are some others: Crime prevention - crime should go up, so security should be a good sector? Money making ebooks, tips, etc. Money saving sites - coupons, tips, whatever
Since people are more likely to embrace socialism in the time of an economic crisis things like canadian immigration, universal health care, save the planet, pets are humans too and other great niches will be hot.
Actually, entertainment would not do well. As people have less money to spend they'll spend less on unnecessities such as entertainment.
Guys..there is no recession..its all only for the stocks and wall streets...ordinary people..say..working on a nuclear power plant like homer ..won't be effected at all..its just hoopla and nothing else..internet is beyond recession and politics
best niche is the make "money online niche" Who wouldn't spend a little money if they believe it can solve their financial problems ? Whether the product can deliver is another matter.
I know all vice-related niches are always recession-proof... I would say adult, gambling, and as mentioned previously making money online
Recycling and general thriftiness niches. Cardboard sales (for al fresco "housing") Contraceptives (well, when there's nothing else to do...) Anything via eBay - second-hand sales sure to take an upturn!
Really? If the recession isn't there, why a lot of people are losing their jobs, retirement funds are disappearing, people can't afford to pay their mortgages, etc...? I suggest you do some reading... maybe http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=awC4oyP274j0&refer=us ?
But what happens when they find out they actually have to pay for it Actually, yeah, maybe bargain sites will be a good bet.
Education typically does well during a recession but there are some early indicators that enrollment might actually be slowing down - especially grad school enrollment.
