This really is a vital question: "Who knows a good mentor?" Please answer: 1. What a good mentor is and does. 2. What your experiences have been. 3. Name names, particularly positive. Thanks, RPM
RPM, every single marketer can be a 'mentor', but not all 'mentors' are really good marketers. You need more than some 'academic' or 'didactic' information on how to do business online, that kind of info can be delivered by everyone who read a good book. Beside a system to follow, a mentor to teach you more about yourself, organizing your online activities and focusing..and so on.. It is essential to have a mentor or to be in a mastermind club. I wish you all Peace beyond all understandings, mike
Hi! I'm asking the question because you didn't mention your level of experience. A Mentor is a teacher but - What are you trying to learn? Are you a Newbie to the Internet? Are you trying to learn about marketing or Is it some other area of interest? You are at the right place to find answers to your questions but the group can't help you much until you explain a little more about what you're looking for.
For the Professional mentor set I can only list 3 offhand; Dr. Joe Vitale (AKA "Mr. Fire") - I happened to have read his doctoral dissertation "Got Spirit" and "The Greatest Moneymaking secret In The World" and that man is everything everyone says he is - set my mind ablaze (and these are no 6pg. ebooks either). David Vallieres - Someone I'd never heard of until recently, but I was so impressed with him, I bothered to signup for his Online Success course (My head is STILL hurting from that forced osmosis of truth). Mark Joyner - Four words, people - "Rise Of The Author" I hope this helps anyone in need of QUALITY, experienced mentorship, and my opinions are my own (neither having been paid to say these things or involved in hyping product lines).
Agreed. For instance, if you're a blogger then you'll look for possibly bloggers that have been around for quite sometime to help you out. If you're doing affiliate marketing, generic website, etc. It all depends... I mean, I can say people at DP are my mentors... probably none of them directly, but if I need a question answered, there are tons of people willing to help out, you know?
Hey Mike, Interesting the way around you have it. In a sense, its all mentors and few marketers! I am sure you are right. Another way of putting it would be to say that, "too many guys want to be mentors before they are 'good' marketers." There is a warning for us all there. Do not run before you can walk. And, be very selective in who you have as your mentor. What is particularly interesting to me, is this: I still have not succeeded at IM. I believe I am going in the right direction. Certainly I am committed. I have lacked focus, but it is getting there. However, the bit about "...teach you more about yourself..." is really where I am at. So, who knows, maybe when I have succeeded on-line, I will be able to mentor others. Thanks for your contribution. RPM
Thanks, I was not really looking for someone for myself. It is just a subject that I am thinking a lot about, and have concerns about in the IM field. I bought one 'mentoring' program which was just a load of audios, although there was access to the marketer. It would be difficult to criticise this too much, because I did not follow the plan. I found something more like what I was looking for. It seems to me, we need to define a mentor. A mentor to me is not someone who 'just' sells you an expensive 'info product.' There is a lot of that. I am sure there is good content, and if used, would be worth the money. But, let's not call that mentoring. That is more a 'comprehensive course.' A mentor, to me, should hold your hand and make sure you are successful. Their payment should be linked to your success, so they stay motivated to see it through.
Thank you for your list. That is really great. Just what was asked for! My mentor has been, up to now, Jacob Stein. He has a very good reputation as an ethical marketer. He is a successful marketer. The program I did with him was comprehensive and I could get onto Skype and talk to him anytime. He helped me (guided and lead me) to build my first site. I had no knowledge of IM, HTML, FTP, etc. But, that first site is still getting traffic and subscribers after 4 or 5 months! The only reason I say "up to now" is because Jacob is more a friend now. Plus he has moved so it is difficult to be so much in touch, and he has a BIG project he is about to launch.
I think part of what you're saying is that it's hard to know who you can trust in this resource pool called "marketers". I was the same when I first started to study marketing. Sad to say there's only 3 or 4 that I to listen to. One of them is David Vallieres. A marketer who's been online for years, he's published an eBook that I think you'd like. It's called 'Fail as Fast as Possible'. You can download David's book at - http://www.marketing-webmasters.com/Vallieres-fail-faster/ I hope this helps RPM and much luck to you!
Thanks for your info. I know of David Vallieres. I think it was him I bought CD & DVD automator from. I will download the e-book.
