Just looking on the first page here. There are over 5 threads on exactly the same topic. How to rank well in yahoo. If you question hasnt been answered in one of those threads. Then here it is, the be all and end all advice for ranking in Yahoo. Guess what? It doesnt differ much from any other advice. 1. Build Quality Content first and formost. 2. Make your website user and SE friendly, using text links instead of javascript, make it neat and make it with structure. 3. Yahoo does particularily like rss feeds from sites, so if you can include an rss feed for your site which you can update. 4. If you like to build links, then build backlinks just as you would normally, in a sensible manner. 5. Submit some QUALITY articles to article directories. Check out this DP post http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=62009 6. Keep updating your content. 7. Repeat steps 1-7 And that will give you the rankings you are looking for. SE's are really not that complicated when you break it down into smaller steps and follow common sense guidlines. Sure none of the above is filler or crap. But it works Brad
Excellent post. One simple technique with Yhaoo is update your website as often as possible with fresh and unique contente. You are there
I agree this for Google but for m Yahpp! seems to care about little other than links. Good content doesn't seem to feature.
Hi I hope I am posting this in the right area. If not I apologize! I have some php sites and I am wondering if and how they are indexed by Yahoo and Google? I am a newbie and appreciate any information on this! Thanks Mark Davies
You think those links in your sig are large enough? J.K. I think those steps are the right way to rank in Yahoo. I would add that you should be sure to avoid anything against their policy guidlines.
As my own #1 rankings have shown, this is not needed. The real guide to ranking in yahoo... 1. Put your kw in an h2 and the title and have some text on the page 2. Build all the links you can for your exact kw in the anchor. 3. Wait 3 months. 4. Your top 3, unless they have been paid for, in that case your #4-5.
quality content is way over rated shit yo yo thats the same guide I use for msn and google, excpet in google the site has to be 2 years old or older or nothing happens
Have you noticed that <h2> is more involved than <h1>? Maybe they have discounted <h1> because it was being so loaded over the last few years ? BTW Step 3 is hilarious and so true. People seem quit building links once they are in MSN. MSN is all <title> and a little links. You need more links coming in...
Yes, but the white hats will never admit it I have #1 ranks in msn/yahoo but google is a bitch. My oldest site (minus my directory) is only about 10 months...
I'm not sure about h1's, I don't use them because they're ugly I put up brand new sites, grab links for 2 weeks, and then I don't touch them or look at them for exactly 3 months. When I go back in 3 months there I am, #1 (maybe #2) in both yahoo/msn... it's fairly easy.
oh man you missed out, google used to be about as easy as msn, and as fast too, it was freaking great. You could just trade a bunch of links and your rankings would fly up within a month.
Yes I remember, about 2 years ago a PR8 or a few PR7s would do the trick, too bad I was working for someone else instead of making my own sites huh?
I defintley wasted a bunch of time working on other peoples sites too, i have client sites that paid me a one time fee still rankings google years later, those could be my sites.
If you join their directory it can give you a big boost, but then you are on the hook for $300 / year and you don't have as much control over your sites title and description.
