There is certainly no established guidance (that I could find at least) on this topic so I would not venture a guess. I'm working with someone now and a handful of links a day (five) has not sparked any negative reaction. I think quality (the ability to send traffic by the link itself) is more important than quantity anyway.
I'd say it depends on the type of links. If you're going to use a link service and have your link automatically splashed onto 1000 domains...well that would not be wise.
Has anyone had a bad experience due to excessive links that would give us an idea of the sort of numbers to watch out for?
What happens if you get yourself a site wide Link on say a well established blog, that is going to create a lot of backlinks at the same time in the hundreds. Would this be considered bad or would this only be the case if all these links came from lots of different domains? Also how do viral campaigns get around this, they must pile up 1000's of links in hours. Is the targeted content taken into consideration?
I think as long as you are spreading your link around logically, it really could be anywhere from 5 - 100 a day allowed. What you DON'T want to do is spam your link 1000s of times each day. Just be careful and think like a Google robot
the more the better...reasonnably. If you can build enough backlinks constantly, day after day, to be penalise ...please share your secret.
im think the guys who make the rules make provisions for whatever is reasonable could be 1 could be thousands ......
Here's a proven, tested method that works: • Go each day to Digital Point's Directories > Solicitations & Announcements forum. • Submit to the free directories that you'll find there each day. Submit also to paid directories, if your budget so permits. • That will tend to give a nice, reasonably similar daily average to your ever-increasing number of indexed backlinks, and it's unlikely you'll ever be looked at suspiciously by the search engines. • And as a side benefit, you're helping DP brothers and sisters get their directories established. • Don't go for the "1,000-directory-links-in-one-day" solicitations. Probably nothing but trouble there.
Show me a site that you worked on that got banned because of excessive links. I have never met anyone who was a white hat seo who ACTUALLY got their site banned. If you somehow manage to do it, let me know. I think there's too much worrying for nothing. I've built sites with thousands of links a day, and never even came close to getting in any kind of "trouble"
Ok so no matter how many links a day if they are built with different anchor text and aren't spam like links from blog comments forums right?
I am submitting my site to around 20 directories daily but around 50 on saturdays and sundays.. next week, my plan is to submit my site to search engines..
I wouldnt be to worried with making 100 backlinks per day as not all of them will be found at the same time by the se spiders. It is important to build backlinks steadily. There are a lot of sites that grow very quickly and they are not penalized either.
