The sources I have spoken to have said that IE8 will be Bundled with "Vista" SP1 which is due for release on March 17/08.

I got this from a Tech Specialist at Best Buy (of all places) who received a Beta SP1 a few days ago.

Don't quote me on the release Date, but I think that's what he said.

Coincidentally, that's also St Patrick's Day.

I think MS is counting on having some luck with the release.

I guess they released this version because they want it to look like all their other software packages: Office 2007 along with Outlook 2007. Which I think are working Great.
Firefox has been acting like a bitch over the last year for me, but I guess its because I am overpacking with plugins and addons.

Anybody has any screenshots of IE8?

Actually they are bringing this out in response to the web community asking for web standards to be followed, ie you now code and don't have to put in special codes just for IE to render the page properly. Obviously any webmaster would support this step by Microsoft to at last bring out a compliance based Browser. It also should pass the Acid2 test which is something not many would have expected from Microsoft.

The only concern is the need to use a meta tag to get the full IE8 compliance support. However, this is a small price to pay to have your websites look the same on all browsers (assuming Microsoft does a drive good enough to get people to upgrade to IE8)

Yeah IE8 is so laggy, I am having to run it in IE7 mode now or else it just messes up completely.

I am sat considering installing just IE7 again unless it remains ok in emulation mode.

Yea same thing for me...Works perfectly if its in IE7 but don't exit emulation whatever you do :/. Although again its in early beta phase and its technically only for developers so Microsoft still has some work to do before the average people can use it.

Great! Another bloated MS program to help Vista run even slower.

Windows XP Pro and Firefox = NO PROBLEMS AND FAST BROWSING!

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Wow, from the responses I think I'll stick with firefox o.o

Maybe in the future if they fix it (haha) I will try it, but probably not replacing firefox anytime soon.

If you think Vista runs slow you either have too much porn on your hard drive or need a new PC as vista runs beautiful on my 2ghz P4 with 1gb DDR400 ram and a 6600GT.

Im surprised that Microsoft has yet to replace the download manager that IE uses. I hate it, you can't even pause your downloads. Microsoft is slow...We've been using this download manager since what windows 95 or windows 3.1?
