    I'm not even sure the Google algorithm will allow a site to advance from non-existant to PR 5 in 5 days...

    Regardless of whether or not the site is PR5 now (he could have simply played some tricks with an existing domain), I find that story somewhat unlikely.

    Possibly. But think about this. I might be wrong though.
    Let assume G update occurs the 15th of may.
    The 8th, you buy a domain (PR0) and you buy right away a backlink on a solid PR8 site for $50/month (or whatever)...G spiders the stuff, get the update the 15th and boom...PR5...
    I believe it could be possible in this scenario....
