I see today I have a lot of keywords going to $10 - even some going direct to merchant. Anyone else seeing this? One has had 5 cent keywords for 3 months!!!

    Same here too.
I had a chat with a "specialist". After I passed the robot stage a human finally came to answer my questions.
The answer: my links (privacy policy, disclaimer, etc.) are at the bottom of the page. Yeah, right.
I'll move them and see if anything works, although this is the silliest answer I've heard in years.

The slaughter continues today. I guess they don't need the business. No wonder their stock is going down.

I contacted them again, passed the robot stage and made the assitant go crazy until I was satisfied (or not).

"What's wrong with my page now?" - "Whitespace" (yeah, right. It doesn't even show in their guidelines!).
I fixed the whitespace, but that created more whitespace. Next thing - "it isn't so appealing. Try adding some colors" (the AdWords bot is definitely looking at colors, right?). I said "it must be appealing - it made me some sales", "no, I tell you as a web user". (the page is similar to products links in my signature, but now it's changed. Not THAT ugly, right?).

Now my page is definitely looking better, but will it help my QS? I give them 5 hours to show me that, or I'll have another friendly chat with them.

On March 3/08 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM Pacific, I wasn't able to access my Adwords Account.

On March 4/08 starting around 9:00 AM Pacific the Games began.....Again

Have you noticed that they are doing it either before or after the Affiliate Summits?

Trying to get answers out of them has previously proven to be Futile. I just shut my Adgroups off and went out for a coffee before I threw my PC out of the window.

I sensed it was coming a few weeks ago.

Back to the Old Drawing Board.

    :(

All of my campaigns are perfectly fine. "Great" quality scores throughout. I set up a new campaign last night. That, too, is fine. :D

I haven't been hit at all. But I heard other guys got nailed.

If you have a "one page wonder" for a landing page, you will get slapped silly. It's nothing new folks.

    I got slapped hard.

PPC-Coach, how do you fix what you call a "one-page wonder"? I sell using sales letters. But along with the sales letters, I also have the other pages I've heard Google wants: privacy policy, contact us, terms of use, etc. Previously that was okay, but today I got slapped.

    Thanks,
    Johnny

Google sure has weird ways of going about things, really!
Are the spiraling down prices of their stock and tumbling profit projections making them squeeze their customers?

Since the stock market is forward-looking, it's likely the current Slap has been priced in, which would explain a lot of the decline in Google's stock price lately.

Google is targeting certain areas with this slap, sales letters, (one page wonders) and porn are two known ones.

It doesn't matter if you have a privacy policy, contact us, about us, terms and conditions, they don't like the format of sales letters because 95% of them are selling crap and are full of false promises. They want a real website, not a pitch page that makes the user scroll down for hours until they get to the bottom. Those old school sales letters are not going to fly much longer on adwords. If you do them and you didn't get slapped in this round, they'll catch you eventually.
