Can we have a rule that minimal post count for a thread like this is atleast 1000?

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=736140

Personally I'd like to see these threads banned altogether. Basically, someone makes a post saying 'I got xxxx posts', then a flood of 20 people saying "well done", "nice milestone" and all the same bullshit.

Personally I agree. I'll be reaching 7,000 posts soon but will I have the urge to boast about it? I think not, given the fact I have never made a lame milestone type thread before. The trouble is we have some senior members here doing it too.

I think half the reason people make these threads is because it allows them to increase their own post count by another 20 or 30 by posting replies like "yeah, thanks" and similar such bollocks.

Well instead of these thread .. there should be Poll only. With options like Congrats, You suck, No comments. We just need to congratulate the guy and not spam the forums.

I would question why they needed to be congratulated.
More over, why do they feel the need to invite congratulations by creating their bone thread in the first instance? Is it because they craved attention as a child?
Getting a big post count is no biggy. It's not as if they're inventing a cure for the common cold or anything like that.

CountryBoy subtle as a brick yet again.

I agree with Countryboy and the rest, can we have those I have posted 100, 200, 500 etc banned? I don't see them serving any interest or contribute to anything at all. It is also nothing to be proud of if your 100 posts consists of "Thank you", "PM Me Pls" compared to someone who has only 10 substantial and good posts.

Well take a look around. Being an old member with big number of posts is good thing. Not all members reach 10,000 mark that easily with good post track record. Many posters like Samantha... paidhosting were banned before that 10,000. Congratulation old members isnt a sin.It shows the respect and support to senior members. Its a community man and not a school yard where teachers kick your ass for scribbling on the desks.

Its just that other low count people get a chance to increase posts for no reason.

Plus reminding one thing get senior Digitalpoint users should feel good and respectable. I respect Cheap SEO Services. he's old and good enough.

Instead of creating threads, Polls will serve the same issue but more effectively if used properly.

On that note, congratulations on reaching 2000.
No need to make a thread about it!

Frankly you won't see many 10 000 posters, celebrating them is a good sign to show that we appreciate those old and frequent posters, but certainly not those 100,200, 500 etc.....

Yes that's exactly what I am talking about. You cant just ignore the old senior members. They are the main guys. We need to celebrate the 10,000 reach. Plus poll system will be better than making thread.

I think posting on 100 , 200 , 300 and 400 posts is pretty dumb but if its only on important milestones like 500, 1000, 2000 etc then I don't really think theres anything wrong with it, as long as they havent started a new thread for every 100 posts they've made.

Perhaps a sticky thread for milestones reached, and only allow people to post a milestone theyve reached on certain ones, IE 500, 1k etc it may help with all the smaller milestone posts.

500 is not a milestone, lol. We are in a forum, so if we post a lot, then our post count SHOULD go higher. I understand people who make threads about reaching 2000 posts after a year - at last - or so, but for the hundreds and the 1k, forget it.

I think 100,200 or 500 type of threads should not be allowed,1k is ok then may be 10k post thread.

It's not that we're not happy for the person reaching the "milestone". But as mentioned earlier, it turns into a BS post-padding thread.

Reaching 1k, 5k or 10k+ is not important to any of us for it to be a new thread!
Put it in sigs or something

If i'd known by posting my 500th post thread (my first and only milestone thread) so many would've opposed it then I wouldn't have posted it, I didn't see any rules against it so I didnt see the harm, but I certainly didnt think of post padding, but I won't post any more of those threads if it helps keep the peace and keeps the forum free from junk, as there is allready enough of it lol.
