Hi there guys, I'm really glad about Kosovo's indipendence. I'm Albanian that means that people in Kosovo are my brothers and sisters. The goverment made a right thing. Tell your opinion about Kosovos indipendence. You think it was right? And vote in the poll... Regards ArLinD
The people of the state decide what is good for their well being. If they decide to be independent, then it has to be welcomed
I agree,it breaks law of nations. The dependence just encouraged some regions such as TaiWan which is a province of China want to be independent,If TaiWan gets wrong signal from that dependence and takes wrong actions, such as announcing dependence, China will attack TaiWan without any hesitations,If Japan and Us want to help, there might be a face to face unclear war,In that case Russian may help Jugoslavia to kill your new born kosovo, and i am 1000000000% sure European will not help kosovo unless they do not mind a h-bomb exploded in Pairs or London. The kosovo's actions is so crazy, meanwhile, the a good government should focus on how to improve the life level of its people.
It is a difficult birth, Kosovo still has a long long way to go, achieving independence is just a tiny but significant step in the journey. It still have to get its house in order, to fed its citizens and to strive for recognition in the international community of nations. All these aren't easy and I can only wish Kosovo the best. It will certainly requires the utmost out of every of its citizens.
Kosovo is not yet a country. Russia, Greece and Serbia (Orthodox Nations) are negative about recognition of kosovo. Hmmm, so are we gonna expect the "Great Albania"?
the indipendence was needed to justify the war and nato bombings there (all that was against international laws, and against nato constitution). Anyway it will be a useful precedent for many guerrillla wars all around the world. Living on earth is each day more dangerous.
Maybe you can enlighten me on the relationship of granting independence to Kosovo and Nato bombings which was to prevent the massacre and ethnic cleansing works of Milosevic? Also can I know which International laws and Nato Constitution was breached as a result of bombing the Milosevic loyalists from continuing their grisly crimes? I do remember that Milosevic was charged and convicted of crimes against humanity by an International Tribunal.
After year of injustice finally justice was made. How can you say this wasnt right. I just can't believe what I read here...
i will attempt to enlighten you: -"United Nations Charter does not allow military interventions in other sovereign countries with few exceptions which in general need to be decided upon by the United Nations Security Council". Cracking hard on rebels on your own territory with some civilian casualties isnt an exception, unless you plan to bomb LITERALLY every other country, so obviously it didnt pass the un security council resolution. -i dont know what the NATO constitution is like, but i am sure it's something like "do whatever is in your interest, but dont touch anyone who has nukes" -Milosevic was charged with many things, convicted of none, cause he died during the trial. If you followed his trial, you would have figured out why he had to "die from natural causes" before any judgment was made -as for the relationship of the bombing and independance, well it's kind of hard to justify bombing a sovereign country if the province stays in the county. Also, if you plan to build a military base (in territory where the internationally recognized terrorist group promised would let you build), you first have to bomb the countries military out of the territory, and then give terrorists independance. Actually, your choice for a US president voted against the bombing, and recognized the albanian rebels as terrorists http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/war-and-foreign-policy/ -as for your ethnic cleansing comments in kosovo, unfortunately, it happened many times in the relatively recent history. First was ethnic cleansing of christians before the balkan wars, as turks and albanians knew they would lose the territory, so to be able to claim it, they had to get rid of christian population. Large number of christians (mostly serbs) was kicked out, number vary in hundreds of thousands, but after that was the first time that albanians were a majority in kosovo. Second wave of ethnic cleansing was after Tito died, he kinda kept peace, and after his death albanians started the independence movements along with ethnic cleansing of minorities by intimidation. Tactic was intimidation till you sell your house at a "very good deal" so this way you cant get it back legally. So at the beginning of the 90's you have kosovo 90% albanian. And very last wave of cleansing happened after yugoslav troops left after bombing, so albanians were free to do whatever they want, and the only minorities that werent cleansed were in the north where it's mainly serb police and in small enclaves around kosovo, where minorities have to be under constant military protection. And now you have it 95% albanian.
as i posted in another thread, some people dont think it's right cause they dont agree with -violating international law of countries' sovereignty -demographic secession based on ethnic cleansing -desecrating 1000 year old christian churches -giving a country to a drug smuggling warlord to run -rewarding terrorists But most americans are keeping quiet. They are in a hard position. Last 7 years was all about war on terror, but two weeks their president gave world's terrorists the biggest morale boost EVER possible: if you pretend you are our friend for a bit, not only we will call you freedom fighters and support you, but we will give you a COUNTRY to run. And when you turn against us, we will just say it was the right thing to do at the time. Republicans cant say anything cause their president approved it and democrats cant say anything cause their president set it up with 1999 bombing. Ron Paul disagreed with both about this issue, but hey, who is listening to him...
I appreciate your answers but you still have not answer my question which charter of the United Nations and also of the Nato constitution. It is a natural death, the evidence against him is quite substantial.
as far as the first question, you can find answers here and interpret it for yourself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legitimacy_of_NATO_bombing_of_Yugoslavia As for Milosevic, he was constantly discrediting witnesses, was calling western leaders such as Clinton, Helmut Kohl,Madeleine Albright, Klaus Kinke to testify. He knew too much about the inside deals and had to die naturally before any of them got up at the witness stand. As far as evidence against him being substantial, that is a matter of opinion of course, but from what could actually be proven, there was no more evidence against him than any other president whose forces were battling some rebel/terrorist force on their territory with civilian casualties (which as i said before, would be every second president in the world)
Thanks, your argument is credible in the case of Milosevic, while I would say the evidence were there of his crimes but the way he die did leave a more questions unanswered.
And what do you mean by stating also "Orthodox Nations" Nobody my friend counts Russia , Serbia and Greece. At the moment superpower of the world is USA so as long as they will be number one. When Greece will become a superpower then we might discuss again (The probability is a bit too much but its worth waiting ) We don't want a Greater Albania , we want our population to be treated as they were in their homelands in every single part of the globe!
