A revolutionary proxy...

Hey everyone, first time in the General Business forum, pardon me if this is the wrong forum.

In the past, I've developed several custom proxy scripts. With the recently deceased PHProxy, and unbearable resource intensity of CGIProxy, I figured someone should finally create a proxy solution the right way. The reason I've came to this forum is to ask all of you what you would want in a proxy.

I'm taking every single idea into consideration. My goal is to create a 'perfect proxy,' if you will. With my extensive knowledge of PHP and MySQL, I believe that I can create a proxy that everyone will be satisfied with. The final product of the proxy I create will be free for download, just like PHProxy and CGIProxy was. Are you ready to help revolutionize the proxy industry?

So tell me... what features would you want to see in a proxy?

 

If I were a lurker, I wud look for a proxy that is fast,easy to navigate and with a simple neat design.

If I were a proxy webmaster, I wud look for a fast, less resource consuming and easy ad monetizing features. Also a secure one.

The "perfect" proxy script is impossible to make. When creating the script you cannot have all of the special features people want/require (myspace, youtube, etc.) , and not put a load on the server. Vis-Versa applied if you try to take the load off of the server then you will lose functionality.

Besides, the proxy community is already saturated with proxy scripts that all claim to be better than the other, but come up short with either the user's expectations or the owner's.

What it comes down to is that the proxy site owner needs to lay down the money, get the required resources to build a site that can handle the load some of the better scripts dump on the server, and appease the customer. Because that is what the proxy service is about (at least it should be) pleasing the customer and getting him/her to come back time and time again.

On an ending note I am a proxy network owner, running 6 sites having multiple domains parked on each of them. I have found that the script I have come to love is known as "Glype", and it has done me well so far.

 

I believe that the best feature that no other proxy has is "unblockable" (i.e. cannot be blocked by url filtering software like websense, webwasher, etc)

Impossible to do? Maybe.

 

I'd love to have a proxy script that sends auto-myspace bulletins by using the user's account and also captures their email address as a lead. Additionally, it should capture every email address entered as a lead and should feed it to your autoresponder.

 

Yeah, just make my proxy shielded from blocking companies and I'd be more than happy.

Per the myspace thing, Acio! Script c/o Cybernaut already does that.

Here are some things which i would like:

#a good templating system(so that u can seperate the code from the design)
#an easy to insert ads on proxified pages system(can this be included as a template tag?)
#low cpu and memory usage
#must work with myspace login,youtube etc
#auto-myspace friend adder

Sorry mate but a friend of mine and his programming team have already been working hard at this for a while now the script is nearly up and running and it will be the best proxy script up to now. I wont say it will be perfect because i believe it will be a long time until the ''perfect'' proxy script has been made and it also depends on how you define perfect to be.

However this script will be the best yet, this friend of mine also owns the zelune.net website which everyone who builds or at least knows about proxy sites will know that this script is a very good script also.

Glype owns all. Period.

Zelune is not very good. Glype is good because it has a templating system, a logging system, nice and easy to read code, many plugins, nice features, and has a kind of admin setup.

 

Well some proxy sites can be hijacked and the hijacker can use his own ads without the knowledge of the real owner. There can be loopholes in the script which the hacker can take advantage of.

I'll definitely be including a templating system with my proxy script. As for ads, I was thinking of implementing some sort of 'ad center' if you will, into the admin panel. I already know that my script will be good on CPU and memory usage, all my past proxies have

Zelune.net, huh? What about Zelune.com? (I'm the original author of Zelune.) I was debating whether or not to release this proxy as Zelune on Zelune.com, or create a new identity for it.

The last proxy script I created contained logging, ad solutions, and geotargeting. All of which will be included in this proxy script.

Don't you worry about this, I would never even consider developing in such a manner that this would ever be possible.

Yeah, I'm the original author of Zelune I believe I relinquished the rights to the script to the owner of Zelune.net sometime last year, I don't recall. However, I still have access to Zelune.com and can re-release under that name, if I choose to.
