Yes, definitely looks good. It can be skinned nicely too with GMonkey. But what about Live? It isn't too bad. http://www.live.com/
You do realise that you have shown 2 portal pages against a search page right? You do know the difference between a portal page and a search page right? Anyways, here is Yahoo's Search page Here is AOL's search page
I didn't made that image. But still I don't agree with you. Google too has News, etc.. But they don't put it on the main page. They keep things simple.
Google has a News search aggregator. It does not have a portal site. Closest would be if someone created their own .igoogle page. I'm just saying the picture makes no sense as it is not comparing the search pages against each other.
I think if search.yahoo.com become yahoo.com page while yahoo.com portal use other domain like myyahoo.com then maybe yahoo search could compete with google.
Thing is Yahoo is beating Google in almost everything but search. It wouldn't make sense to leave those things right now. Below is a HitWise report which shows some of the areas Yahoo does well in, or not.
Each has a search box which can be located without too much difficulty. The difference is that with Google you are more likely to find what you are looking for. Given the vast number of web pages out there, it still manages to present accurate results in the first 10 listings. That’s why I use it.
I just want to say I love Google. . . just in case anybody wanted to know. I can't wait until they unveil the live video on You Tube soon.
Well KEEP in mind that Google maybe is the ONLY search engine available in ALL languages ( or atleast all ) and the search is very good ( at results ) .
http://search.yahoo.com/ http://aolsearcht8.search.aol.com/aol/webhome Google is best because of the relevant content it provides users, not the simplicity. Anyone can be simple look at the links I provided above.
there are many reasons why google is the best....the simplicity of its homepage is very minor on that scale
