I didn't made that image. But still I don't agree with you. Google too has News, etc.. But they don't put it on the main page. They keep things simple.

 

Google has a News search aggregator. It does not have a portal site. Closest would be if someone created their own .igoogle page.

I'm just saying the picture makes no sense as it is not comparing the search pages against each other.

I think if search.yahoo.com become yahoo.com page while yahoo.com portal use other domain like myyahoo.com then maybe yahoo search could compete with google.

 

Thing is Yahoo is beating Google in almost everything but search. It wouldn't make sense to leave those things right now.

I agree Google is all I use. Not because of the look, but because of the results.

Ok, so they look better. But, the search results are no good.

 

Well KEEP in mind that Google maybe is the ONLY search engine available in ALL languages ( or atleast all ) and the search is very good ( at results ) .

Google is best because of the relevant content it provides users, not the simplicity. Anyone can be simple look at the links I provided above.
