One more vote for screw them.
DMOZ is useless these days. Social bookmarking showed up, and before that blogging. If you have a god site, people will link it, the web is becoming more and more user generated content.
DMOZ was important when a few people had the possibility to post links in relevant sites.
Nowadays anybody can set up a blog in minutes and ping hundreds of aggregators. Really, what matters is what you can do to catch the user properly.

Forget about dmoz. I hope you don't manage to get listed there. I would me more disapointed than you can possibly be frustrated for not being there.

Does it really pay off to have listed at DMOZ with regards to traffic ?

Yeah. DMOZ is not the only directory to submit on. There are a lot of directories out there that can help you also.

On my forum, most people do not know what social bookmarking is, let alone what a directory is for. So while it might help a little bit, time would be better spent SEOing the site for search engines (something your users actually use).

Though, like any directory, it's worth at least the time it takes to submit. If you get a handful of users from it, then so much the better. Though one submitted, move on to the next directory, as any time fretting over getting in, is wasted time.

weird - i don't recall submitting my site from 2004, and it made it into DMOZ... i don't know why it takes some people little or no effort, and others can try for years. DMOZ is a strange thing to me.

LOLz... I am also trying to list my 4 blogs in DMOZ for past 2 years.. but all in vain... DMOZ editors are so much busy they are not adding new links.. but i have read some of the threads in DP that if you bribe them they will definitely approve your link... but sooner or lator... they might be trapped and your link will also be dropped from DMOZ...
I would say just give up giving trying in DMOZ...

This is the best reply on this thread lol

Anyways... why is it so important to you to get indexed by DMOZ? DMOZ has been dead for about 4 years now. Move on and forget about it.
