My website had a PR of 2 and it was lost in a week. Due to this i am losing advertising offers and stuff. The number of visits and stuff have not been changed but i just lost PR. Do you guys know any reason why this had happened?
If you're selling links, that's a very likely reason why Google would penalize your site by reducing your visible Toolbar PageRank score. They don't catch everyone, but they do catch some people. They seem to be modifying their original penalty of removing a site's ability to pass PageRank through its links to simply zeroing out the Toolbar PageRank for the site. This might not be what happened to you, but its certainly a possibility if you're selling links.
Have you bought any links from the URL that have been blacklisted from Google? If that is the case you will end up PR0 for the whole life, trust me.
Google Beating! Check their guidelines at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769 and see if you did something bad!
I had a pr 1 on a new blog and it's gone too. Haven't sold any links etc. just linked it from some of my other sites that are pr2's to pr3's. It's funny a dead url with an all posters page on it for 4 years, a pr1. Put a blog on it and get some actual links from sites and directories, add some original content etc and it's a pr0.
your site probably lost links.....which is a more logical answer than the google is out to get you theory..
I know 'Goody10', Pr is very funny. Some sites with all internal backlinks, but Pr4. Some with thousand external backlinks but Pr0 or 1. I'm a webmaster for 2 years now, I'm not even sure how Pr works anymore.
don't blame PR to what happened to you, PR alone will not carry a site but great SERP ranking and lots of traffic will...PR only plays a psychological role to a site which makes it valuable to the eyes of greedy people.
well... it could be that your backlinks lost PR which would influence the PR of your site. check the backlinks you get and see how many good PR pages links to you. I doubt if there are many.
As long as your SERPs haven't changed too much, and your traffic is roughly the same, then I wouldnt worry about it. Unless you were selling PR related links, the drop in PR shouldn't be of any bother to you.
I gained PR on two sites I stopped promoting and lost a pip on one I was, *shrug* Page Rank is fickle... ignore it, or watch it with a passing interest. Worry about SERP and Traffic, those are what really count anyway. But not nearly as fun... Google is watching us, watching us all I tell you! *nervous twitch*
Maybe some of your good backlinks was already gone. Last week google update its backlinks, it can be the reason.
Anyway, all PR related topics should be discus of this thread... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=724873&page=29
I linked other sites on my website but did not put my link on other websites. Or maybe this would have happened. Do you think adding the link to your signature has something got to do with it aswell?
