Hi guys, I have a site, Fitness Chapter, which is 1week 6days old.

Smartpagerank says I have 645 backlinks in yahoo and 0 for google. I'm actually quite shocked at the 0. Does google take a longer time to find the backlinks? Or have I been penalized for getting backlinks too fast. I'm using white hat methods to achieve the backlinks.

    Some help? Thanks!

Google is notoriously slow at reporting new links. Doesn't mean it hasn't found them. Anyhow at this stage you should not be obsessing about the links google reports, but about creating good content and getting links. Any visitors you get at this stage is great. Don't obsess about it though. It's just not worth it. These things take time. Think years instead of weeks or days.

In a month or two (at least) sign up with google webmastertools and find out what google wants to tell you about how many links you have. The public link: command just isn't very good in google (shocker: yahoo is actually better).

Thanks kh7! Needed that confirmation. The difference in backlinks between yahoo and google was too great for me to handle.. haha.

Thanks again, I will be working on the content and link building :)

Well.......google shows the least and most relevant links as backlinks for a site and its time of updation for backlinks is longer than yahoo and takes about three months but it does not mean google do not know about your link. you can see your links by logging in to webmaster tools.......
