It also depends on geographical location the site targets.
ex. Cricket content for India & football for EU.

I'm sure they pay pretty well, but i think the trick (as with anything else) will be driving traffic to them + getting listed in the serps!

 

Knowing what the highest paying keywords on Google are is one thing.
Making a site filled with unique content about these things, that has good SERPS ( therefore a good amount of traffic ) is another thing.

I would suggest to target a niche that interests you personally, not what pays the most in Adsense.
