Sorry you lost your paneg rank man, but hang tight... i don't think theyare done wit hthe full update, and if you are still getting the benefits, it's probably more to do with the PR reporter, and Google still being in the update process.
It is all about $$$ folks, Google wants webmaster money spent on adwords not on paid directory reviews.
I believe you are so correct...hince the reason I have forced myself on Yahoo these days....Im thru with big G lol
yes, my new computer came with the yahoo tool bar installed and I am using yahoo search and quite happy with it. I think it is just a matter of time before lawsuits start sprouting up against google using unfair business practices. They should not be allowed to use their monopoly in search to sink the competition in the website advertising marketplace.
I agree. As far a directory PR goes, it looks like there were an equal amount of winners and losers this time around. Here are the PR stats of the 8000+ directories on web-directoires.ws
Sooner the better! maybe then we can get away from the google pr thing and concentrate on whats most important; traffic. At this moment in time I'm at a loss as to what direction i should take with the directory!!! Still keeping a grip on pr3 homepage only....
i like the new layout of the site and for the containt it have i liked and before, its sad that u even lost your pr,is it your site down the period the pr snapshot take place???it will come back.I hope my directory jump from pr4 to pr5 next update to join the 580 other direcory
Ouch. The PR was news to me. The site had PR last week and a couple of days ago.It may have been because the site was down for over a week. Search engine rankings are still very good with Dozens of Google #1s.
yes thats why i didnt talk anything for penelazition or things like that i saw it and it defenitely was for technical reasons,i am sure. Now if u remember the exacly week your site was down we will all know when the snapshot for pr is taken. It is a great site and i visit it often....
I work for www.seocompany.ca we submit to many directories as you can see on our home page. We have come up with a list from the last PR update of sites that we have submitted to for quite some time that now have a PR 0. The list is as follows: www.easyfinddirectory.com www.haabaa.com www.indexwide.com www.webverve.com www.submission4u.com www.searchbuster.org www.directoryworm.com www.addnewlink.net www.urlstand.com www.aaadir.info www.livelydirectory.com www.dirvault.com www.webbusinesslink.com www.gosubmitdirectory.com www.wowdirectory.com We also agree that wowdirectory is a great directory it has many categories and enables the submitter to search by category and region.
I'm one of the unlucky people who got affected. 3 out of 4 of my directories was affected and given PR0, for an unknown reason.
My website is a directory and has thousands of outoging links. Will it help to add no follow to the links on my website? As I dont charge any money for submitting a link, adding "no follow wont hurt me". But will it affect my website's ranking positively??
Yes, sadly, all directories will get PR0 before long, except DMOZ (Google's own PR machine) or Yahoo and probably BOTW (they have to leave a couple of competitors to avoid any Fed action against them). And if you think that directories with "authority" status have protection, you might want to rethink. It won't take much longer for the GSP to get those also.
Don't be so negative, if you work hard enough you will regain the PR but do it right. The five minutes wasted on here is time you could spend adding content to your directory which is exactly what good directories will be doing.
I agree,i know that it very hard to happen to you but you cant tell that every directory will lose pr.Maybe today happen to you, maybe tommorow happen to me but i am sure its not going to happen to every directory.
The last time it was with websites with paid links... now directories... what's next? Hmmmm... I smell something fishy.
Yesterday I filed a reinclusion request. This morning I have some token page rank back at WoW Directory. Business and traffic amazingly did not suffer at all while we were operating with no PR. I was making preparations for cutbacks in all areas but business was as usual with absolutely no changes.
I had the same thing happen to me. In fact, I had Sitelinks after I went to zero and now they are gone now (came back to PR3) I saw no noticeable difference in submissions or traffic. I think that goes to show that the Webmaster Community isnt as obsessed with PR these days
The only real time you will see any serious consequences of Google's powers is when you don't rely so much on webmasters as visitors but more on real customers, that's when Google really prove they are worth their weight in gold and they know it.
