Well, hi guys... umm... have you ever been scammed online? If yes, how many times? If no, what do you do in order to avoid getting scammed? I got ripped off by some guy named "Mike Smith", he's from Blog Theme Machine. I posted on Kojakfilth's thread about this already. Read my story there if you're interested. Just want to know if you guys experienced getting scammed.
sorry to hear that, i have been scammed once and the scammer made a thread and agreed that he/she has scammed me and others unfortunately nothing can be done, so move on!
I think I was scammed 50 cents recently, that guy never paid for one digg and basically that's it. I don't usually do online transactions or ebay trading and so, more or less insulated against scamming.
Yes I have been scammed for $200 dollar once, I paid a "trusted" person all the money before he gave the design, but never delivered the design!
That's the reason why I never really do online transactions, it is far too risky. For any big amount, I just ask for bank transfers or Western Union, these are 100% safe.
Seems like more and more people are getting scammed by "designers". Uhh.. gotta be more careful, I frequently hire web designers...
Twice. 1st, doing a design. Designer agree to do like what I requested within 3 weeks. 2 month havent received anything. ($275) 2nd, design again. designer told me he had family problem and cany finish up the work. agree to refund and no new till today. ($185) Since I know the address of both, I'm in the process of suing. Lesson learnt, use escrow.
Never pay the full amount to designers or programmers, pay something like 40-50%, then wait till the job is completed to satisfaction and paid the rest. You are dealing with people online that you never met before, it pays to be on the safe side.
The designer asked me to pay a 50% non-refundable down payment, and he has not sent me any file at all. Not even the PSD (even though I wasn't satisfied, I'd be glad to take it rather than get nothing for my friggin' $150) Darn it... shouldn't have trusted him. Oh well...
No, I've never been scammed. I only deal with reputable people around here who have too much to lose by scamming me. But as I keep on saying, iTrader and length of membership isn't necessarily an indication of trustworthiness. We have some members with like +384 iTraders (a completely random value) who are as crooked as a dog's back leg. Homework is essential before dealing with anyone!
