    I've always had an interest in sub-notebook sized computers.

    The Asus Eee PC seems to be taking the world by storm, for US$300.

    I am very tempted to get one, but right now, only Linux is installed, although a Windows XP Home version is due to be released in about a month. No doubt the XP version will cost more than the linux one. I can't wait. :D

    Anyone bought one of these yet?

    Sorry, but I can't post live links yet, since I am still a forum newbie, so you'll have to copy and paste the link into your browser. :)

    I've ordered one today! :) Have to wait 4 weeks, but can't wait!
    It's so small, but still really usable, lightweight and really quiet! :D

    I've already had a hands on go with one, Xandros works perfectly on it, there really is no need for XP, Xandros has everything that you will expect from XP, so no need to pay over the odds.

    Gonna get myself an 8gb sd card to for that extra space :)

    The reason I want XP is because I have M$ programs that I can't live without, and I've never been able to get my printer to work with linux - no drivers.

    But look what one Amazon review wrote:

    =======================================================
    "Yes, the eeepc comes shipped with Linux, but also with some very simple instructions for replacing Linux with Windows/XP if you have a licensed copy Windows available to install, which I did....

    I started off simply. by installing Windows XP/Pro as per Asus's instructions. Then, I installed Firefox, then Thunderbird. Oh, what the heck...I installed Office 2003, Cool Edit 2000, and kept on going Everything works like a charm!"
    ========================================================

    I like that sound of that! :D

    Yea, and you can install a slimmed version of winxp (using nlite) that takes under 500MB when installed.

    I hear Gigabyte and MSI is about to roll out competitors of Asus eeePC.

    Oh yes, planning to buy a 4G model soon. :)
