Please share your htaccess for blocking Iran and China traffic. I can't block them using firewall since on my server, there is some other websites. Thanks.
is it safe to let one or two proxy to have all country access? one of my proxy which is a big earner has 40% Iran traffic. If I block them, isn't my revenue dropped? Will it be normal again? Hmm...dillema..
Revenue may not drop if its all adsense because, I think, they themselves block Iran. But you can experiment with it safely by just removing the ads for iranian visitors for a day. Don't block though while experimenting or your visitors may leave.
I blocked all Iran and China IP from using my proxies. Although not many are from China. As I want to experiment it, I will post my findings back here tomorrow. Let see if my earning dropped.
I suggest you use the block a country site, my server has the block at the fire wall level as well. Therefore my cpu won't be using any resources to block those 2 Countries =). The main site that was giving me the most trouble was the huge money maker. Most of the times i used to make around $9 a day with 50-60 clicks in adsense but the abuse from the chinese traffic was to much to handle and worrying whetther or not if my server is still up. Then if it goes down during peak periods, its not just a lost for the proxy but for all the others sites hosted on the server. Since i Banned the Countries yes i lost over 60% of my traffic and most of my earnings in Novemember, but up to last month, i was getting decent earnings for my clicks from Adsense. And up to today self, I'm seeing the highest amount of adsense impression that i've ever seen coming from this site. Todays stats as it is of now. Adsense impressions: 1878 - and i'm not saying how many clicks Google analytics: 1. United States 721 visits 2. Germany 37 visits 3. United Kingdom 34 visits In total as of now, the site had 1,088 visit And i forogt to mention that 772 out of that total are direct type ins lol I don't use awstats anymore, to me its a bunch of lies. I've been investigating the recent jump in my impression/visits So far i've notice no indication of huge amount of referral sites. I have done no email Blast of the sort I've check, no major topsites traffic except the most popular ones like proxy.org I guess the word of mouth method of advertising still works In my experience in hosting proxies, it just takes time for the site to grow, with a carefully manage server and no downtime what so ever your proxy will be popular in no time. Btw, the site is a PR2.
Hi guys, Look at my stats in AdBrite : 2/29/2008 Impressions : 12,582 CPM impressions : 6,284 CPC Clicks : 5 But revenue is only $0.64 in AdBrite ! Can i put AdSense on my surf page !? I know some webmasters which open an iframe at the top of the proxy and show AdSense ! is this possible !? http://new.s4mir.info/prox.htm
if you put adsense in surf page, you'll be banned no doubt. dont do it. with that impressions in adbrite you should be earning at least $2-$3. How many do you put in surf page?
Does using a free proxy template effect the value in an auction? Is it best to advertise on proxy.org? If not, how else do you generate traffic for a proxy? What keyword/s should I try and get my proxy ranked for? Is it hard to rank for "proxy" on Google? Should I use Zango or Adsense? Answers are appreciated
I just made a proxy today with Glype. I posted my proxy to several listings, so far. I was wondering if I am missing any traffic source opportunities for proxies in general.

I'm thinking of buying a myspace account with lots of friends. This way I will be able to send bulletin everyday and promote with least effort and also not to forget about getting some revenue from advertising. Proxy.org listing is too expensive, They claim to get you 1000uv a day if you list in top. But I don't think you would be able to make up your $120 listing fee by that figure. (correct me if i'm wrong)
And I don't think that $20 listing will take you a long way They are not prominently visible. Anyways, if you are trying, just let me know the result later. I will give a try myself if it turns out to be good.
Please can someone tell me what is the disadvanteges using htaccess to block countries rather than at firewall level. load increase?
