Characterizing what someone has said, and not necessarily using their exact words, isn't a bad thing. However, the contrast between what Jolie has said and the example you use regarding me is far fetched. The notion that Jolie believes the surge is working is demonstrated in the fact that she believes opportunity exists for humanitarian efforts. This could not be accomplished otherwise. However, I don't believe anyone here would suggest I said what you used in your example above.

Now, there are plenty of people here who want the US to lose at all cost. There are plenty here who will stab soldiers in the back (I'm not referring to you, btw) by claiming to care about them and wanting them home, then on the same day start a thread and blame them all for the actions of a few by means of torture. I'm not one of those guys.

We've been through this before, when Harry Reid sold America out by claiming a victory for al qaida. He said America had lost, and while the meaning was the same, you resorted to splitting hairs on the exact quote of what he said. I see the same thing here.

Question: Do you believe Jolie would be moving forward for humanitarian efforts and staying in Iraq, if she didn't believe the overall violence in Iraq was down? If you can answer that question honestly, there's probably not much else to discuss on the issue.

No, I didn't bother reading them. I know better. I do have a recommendation though. Seven is a good number in sales when trying to sell someone on an idea. Next time, try eleven. Here's why...seven is good, it's the half way point between 5 and ten. Ten is too cliche. But one more than ten says "hey, this is even more than ten!"

Looks like another BS THREAD made by the neocon supporters of this lie of a war claiming that Jolie said the surge is working. What a joke these people are. Lets just hope the deal with iran is working, but i wonder what we gave up to iran to allow them to let this troop surge work? This is what scares me the most.

I saw it in a different way. To me, it looked like a bunch of anti-war (at all cost) liberals were pissed about the fact the surge in Iraq has worked and that Jolie eluded to such by the fact that she sees opportunity and is staying. We certainly can't have progress in Iraq...that would mean a defeat for al qaida and how terrible that would be?

As Jim so correctly pointed out, early on, most of us didn't need Jolie to tell us. I've been covering the success of the surge in Iraq for many months now, while some of the very same people were absolutely upset over the success.

I don't understand USA. At first, kill millions of people and then AID and SUPPORT. If the US troops had never gone to Iraq on first place, Iraq would be completely fine rather than war torn. What kind of support is US giving after tearing it apart?

 

So from your view point if the US never liberated Kuiwait from Saddam and Iraq, there wouldn't be a problem in the first place
