I wasn't thinking before about cloaking my hoplinks, but recently I thought it might be useful.

What do you think about cloaking? Do use it?

If yes, how do you cloak your hoplinks? Would be great, if you could provide some free tools.

Same here, as I have answered in the other thread. My solution could be done for someone well seasoned in php/mysql, and happens to know a good bit about virtual subdomain redirects through apache .htaccess. One thing I had neglected to mention, was that if you have cpanel, and that you are going to use this method for redirection, that you have to create a subdomain through cpanel with the asterisk i.e.(*.mydomain.com) so that you can do this form of variable subdomain redirect. The mysql part comes in where you take the $_GET variable from the subdomain, and use that to match against a list of affiliate id's. then we fetch the affiliate url and send the visitor right to that page

i made a small post about cloaking affiliate links on coffeeblack.co.uk also made a few links to othwer useful sites.

i always cloak affiliate links as i think that not only webmaster types but also any normal people see longer URL's and dont trust them as much as they do a short explanative url. Webmaster simply hate to think that they might be signing up to something through an affilaute link. I think they might be embaressed to a certain extent that they didnt already know about a resource or program and being referred to it makes them feel lesser in some way. i use cloaking in ebooks also to make sure ic an always change the program i am promoting if the current one dies out or changes its terms etc.

my current method of cloaking is basically to use the echoecho.com browser redirect tool to make a redirect page which covers all the possible browsers and then to name it index.html and stick it into a folder with a short to the point name or abbreviation of a name

so for instance www.coffeeblack.co.uk/dp redirects to the dp ad network because i made a folder called dp and loaded a index.html file into it that redirects to the ad network homepage.

    hope this helps you out

What about simple redirects, such as tinyurl?

you dont have the same control ove them

for instance in my ebook i made a reirect to /ico which should have gone straight to ICO content through an affiliate link. ICO content still havnt approved my affiliate account so i cannot make any money from this. instead i changed the redirect url to go to jetconvo instead as it offers imilar product and service.

i think it is better to have your redirects hosted on your own server so you have proper control. i mean how irritated would you be if you setup a tinyurl redirect in an ebook and then that tinyurl got cancelled for som reason or tinyurl.com started charging for their redirects etc.

there are lots of possible ways it could go wrong and hosting your own urls is the best choice i think

I got the 301 redirect down this is very easy to do but is there away to mask and
redirect with it. So after they get redirected they still see your website in the URL address
instead of the merchant website. I know you can do with with frames but can you do it
    with 301's?

    Hi guys,

    just a question.

I am new to Clickbank but would like to check. If I use TinyURL to cloak the whole referral link, and stick that in a forum, is that illegal for clickbank? Must I have a webpage for the vistors to land to?

Redirecting Clickbank hoplinks is not illegal. Don't worry about that. You don't need to have a LP for your links.
