Hi, does anyone know which payment processors take payment for prescription drugs. Or anyone have a favourite. thanks in advance
If you are a licensed pharmacist, you could talk to the people at worldpay.com . 2checkout.com explicitly prohibits the sale of prescription drugs https://www2.2checkout.com/documentation/prohibited.html
Anyone every dealt with or knows wheter these companies are ok? http://merchant-accounts.menexis.com/ http://gspay.com http://www.intabill.com
If it is legal business you have then you should be able to speak to your own bank for a good processing solution.
Usually prescription drugs which are sold requires a doctor's prescription and they may require to talk to the patient face to face about using the drugs. Otherwise if it is sold over the internet then there may be the likelihood of abuse as what is sold may not come with a prescription and may not be used by the intented patient with doctor's approval. When you talk to the payment processor in question, make sure that you provide them with proposal with the checks and balances to prevent any abuse. Provide them with your company's registration, pharmacy certification and license to sell prescription drugs. As long as you isolate your business to your home town, it should help prevent abuse.
Most third party processors won't be able to bill for pharmaceuticals, EC Suite can't and most our rules are passed to us from the credit card association, so theres a good chance the rule stands across the board. Your best bet is probably a merchant account. edit: .. I just spoke with merchant account services, this might vary between different merchant banks/ISO's, but the answer I got is: You can process for online pharmaceuticals through a merchant account, but you need to be in the EU, or at least incorporate in Europe. It also helps to be a decent sized business, it's considered a high risk product, and your chances of getting merchant account will be greatly improved if your going to be processing a high volume(at least 50k a month). I get the impression this is to make sure you're not a fly-by-night operation, that your legit. I hope this helps~
I sold credit card machines for some time, and it really depends on the salesperson you call. If you call a 3rd party processor and buy a credit card machine.. you can ask the salesman to classify your company with a different SIC code that would be safer than just "prescription drugs" so your account isnt immediatly red flagged by any risk departments. If he makes a commisison, he might work with you. Process the transactions manually through a machine, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, i dont know much about who online can help
It sounds like your talking about using a retail credit card machine for card-not-present transactions, is this allowed/legal? That plus using a fake SIC code sounds like you'd setting yourself up to get into some trouble.
Thanks for all the help. Was a bit of a problem, but solved by using a off shore payment processor. They still have some restrictions but it seems ok.
