Hey guys, haven't been around awhile but I had to post this one. Title says it all folks. I found this by viewing a commercial at youtube and register.com is offering 100% FREE domain name! (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, or .us) There is no catch except you need a credit card and you can only register 1 per person (or business). I just registered one and it works. Paypal is not accepted, however if your smart, you can get away with using a paypal virtual debit card . All I ask for this information is some greens. http://www.register.com/TV for your free name. Lemme know how it goes! -inspiration100
I've seen and heard about this promotion before. After the period of registration ends, you can't transfer the domain to another registrar and to renew the domain it can cost up to $30. There's always a catch, so be careful before you partake in something like this.
Yes, renewal is actually $35, YIKES! However you ARE allowed to transfer out and an authorization code is provided if you call support. Thanks!
I read somewhere that you need to phone for the authorization code, that is the reason why I have not taken advantage of the offer, is it true? If not I would gladly make use of it.
Thanks for the heads up but giving credit card details for something that is free is a sign that it... err ... isn't free
They are a very reputable company, I guess they want your credit card info for verification, I don't really doubt them on this.
The credit card you have supplied has been declined for unspecified reasons by your credit card company. Please use another credit card for this transaction or call your credit card company to determine why your card was declined. VCC does not work, I wonder what they are trying to charge? lol.
Works for me. You need to put down the same name and address as the paypal account is registered under.
35$ renewal? Ouch I'm not sure if it's worth the free reg unless you can sell it before the renewal fee becomes due.
This offer is still available. Hope some of you can take advantage of it. Again, I recommend using a VCC from paypal. Just make sure you use your real name when putting down the credit card address and name otherwise paypal will reject the transaction.
I think Yahoo had something similar recently, a $1 or $2 registration fee for .com but you were unable to transfer it to another registrar, so you are stuck paying yahoo re-registration fees and no way to get out to somewhere else, so maybe it would be good if you really needed the domain just for a short while, but otherwise it's better to register domains at a place that lets you actually have control over them for a few more dollars.
