    I have a site: knopman.com

This domain is about 9 years old I think...and due to the poor design and so on of the site..I redid it and all pages are now active. Yet, Google has decided to completely disregard it...We have very few real competitors out there for our company..yet it seems that EVERY possible site or random page will come up in a search before our company! A typical search would be (Series 7 training) or something of that sort.

We offer an excellent service, and have products that have far surpassed our competition...yet to Google..we practically don't exist...I have been trying to do some link building..all of the ways I have read about on here and other places have been helpful..and I have tried....but it seems HOPELESS....What am I doing wrong! :(???

PLEASE HELP with ANY words of wisdom!!!:(

Well, you don't have many links pointing to your site. Start getting relevant links, with link text that has the keywords you want in them

Being that you have such few links, directories might be a good start. Don't get too carried away at first.

Write an article or two and send to the article directory sites, with a link back to our site.

From what I can tell on your site you dont have a sitemap listed? You should make one or use a generator and submit them to google, yahoo & msn as well. Plus to your robots.txt or your meta tags...

Forget the link building. You need "on page optimization". Your #2 in Google for "Series 7 Training"! I think you might need some keyword research to fing some keywords to drive some traffic. I'm quite nauive to your business, but I would think that you might get more traffic with different keywords.
I see 2 "meta keywords" on your site, could use some more optimization. Your Meta description is too "meaty". You need to shorten it, get your keywords in there... You have links to:

    <li class="style52"><a href="series14.html">Series 14</a></li>
    <li class="style52"><a href="series16.html">Series 16</a></li>
    <li class="style52"><a href="series17.html">Series 17</a></li>

    <li class="style52"><a href="series23.html">Series 23</a></li>
    <li class="style52"><a href="series24.html">Series 24</a></li>
    <li class="style52"><a href="series27.html">Series 27</a></li>
    <li class="style52"><a href="series52.html">Series 52 </a></li>

Not too sure these will bring traffic.

No privacy policy. Image links such as this:
    http://knopman.com/images/exams-front.gif Try using:

    http://knopman.com/images/financial-training-exams.gif

Get them keywords in there. Get some H1, H2, H3, etc with keywords.

Your site is a SEO specialists dream come true. Lets say it's "target rich" with oppertunity. If you'd like, I'll help you out. No charge. But what CMS are you using? I see some "bloat" with the CSS embedded in the main page source. PM if you want me to go into more detail, and advise me of your abilities and comfort on changing the site around.
I did a search at seodigger.com. Heres what you rank "well" for:

    Link search in Google database:
ID Date Requests Pos. WT OT
    1 07.01.2008 knopman financial 1 0 0
    2 07.01.2008 knopman 1 0 0
    Show 1 ... 2 of 2 | Page 1 of 1

You need to rank well for phrases such as: financial training, etc.

Register the domain for another few years. Show the search engines you mean business, and are going to be here tomorrow...

Record last updated on 2008-02-18 00:00:00
    Record created on 1999-02-22 00:00:00
    Record expires on 2009-02-22 00:00:00

You have this on your site...
    <p align="left">Welcome to Knopman Financial Training </p>

It should be <H1>Welcome to Knopman Financial Training</H1>
CSS could change the size right back to what it is now...

So many oppertunities for improvment I cant list them all!!!

If your gonna do a quote.. Do it all....

Forget the link building. You need "on page optimization".

I think On page is more of a concearn for his site right now. Yes, link building is neccessary, but he has much bigger fish to fry right now...

Sorry your previous post was too long to quote all, and I just want to quote you on the part that I am concerned with.

You should've said "forget the link building FOR NOW." The way you said it sounds like he should not build links... just sayin...

Sitemap is a page with links to all your pages. This can be usual html page, but google prefers it in the .xml format.
Try this service for creating xml sitemaps - _ttp://www.xml-sitemaps.com - it's free if you have under 500 pages, otherwise you'll be asked to pay...

Wow, 9 years!? I would definitely say you site has hope. It looks like you could utilize some optimization for keywords within your content.

I would recommend writing some articles and looking into blog commenting on related sites and you should see a solid rise in your results.
