OK so if a person is in a wreck and they test positive for pot then that automatically means that the wreck was caused by the pot? Come on, I dont think things are that simple to explain.

While I agree that no one should be driving while under the influence of certain medications, alcohol, or weed I do not think it is productive to blame the substance. Why dont we try something new and blame the individuals who caused the wreck or whatever?

I wonder how many wrecks are caused by people drinking (not alcohol), eating, smoking cigarettes, changing the radio, putting on make up, talking on cell phones, dealing with a dog in the car, just not paying attention, etc etc the list could go on.

When I would get high I probably wanted to kill people. I know this because this is what commercials tell me.

Not only should it be banned, but the ban should be enforced appropriately.

It's basically legal, or almost, at least in the countries I know...

It might as well be legal.

No it doesn't mean that pot was the reason, but it prolly was a factor. Just like you can't completely blame alcohol for crashes, we know what it does to your system but it doesn't mean tis' the cause. Could be the driver was sleepy, or he lsot control for a sec, hell maybe his cell phone went off. Argument can be made on both sides.

A lot of the time, had the substance not been there, the person wouldn't have taken attention to it. Some people can't help it (they should be punished for that) but it's true. When a phone rings you pick it up, when a really crappy song comes on the radio you switch the station, when the kids are yelling in the back seat you tell them to shush.

People take action when there is something to react too.

By banning a substance or action in a car, there should be less of it going on.
Anything that distracts you in the car on the road should be fixed or removed or banned. Smoking (you use 1 hand to do it, you have to get rid of the ash as well), Radio (at least now the panels to switch radio stations are on the wheel, which is a great improvement), Make up ( should be done at home, should be banned, especially if your gonna be looking in a mirror to do it), Cell phones (Oh c'mon people, pull over or just let it be no one will die by you missing your call, but someone might if you take it) et cetera.

Some may argue that these all infringe on your rights, but none of these things will hurt you if you don't do them. Suck it up you selfish folk:p

Ahhh, now we come to some agreement. You say "By banning a substance or action in a car" and I can certainly agree with that.

Recreational use of some substances should be allowed only under control, or else it could make a person get in a car and drive it...
