Is payed directories allowed by google ? Can website owners buy links from directories (even directory inside within a webpage) , do they have risk to get penalized by google ? Thanks
A website owner cannot buy a link as such, what they pay for is a 'review' of thier site for possble inclusion within that directory if the site fits the criteria of the particular directory. Hope that answers your question.
Sorry couldnt get you . Website owner can not buy a link you say, ok. Then buying link from a directory is not at all as buying a link, it is just like paying for review . So can a website owner buy a link (or pay for review )from a directory ( lets say one of portal websites has a directory) ?
Google frowns upon link selling for the sake of selling, but if you charge for a review of a link then there should be no problem. I can't explain it any better than this and I doubt anyone else can.
Firstly you can do what the hell you like, you can operate your directory/website anyway you please, but seen as your question is specific to google its not a straight forward answer. Paid directories would not be sitting in googles index now if they were not allowed, if your buying links, in a blatent way then most likely your going to get penalised, and if your promoting your directory in certain ways then again you run risks. I would advise you to do whatever you may do with the understanding that you may or may not get penalised, either if your running a directory or using paid submission directories for promotion. Not every last paid submissions directory is penalised, also not all for the same reasons, also not on such a scale as some others and some have held partly onto somethings while others have experienced a complete strip out of certain things. Rather than are paid directories allowed, if its with regards to using them i would ask what you expect to get from them, then ask yourself if google will have a problem with it.
Paying for review = paying for the owner/editor to review your website. You are paying for their time. If your website is crap and they do not want to list it, they have still reviewed it. Therefore they will not refund the review fee. Directory owners claiming to review websites who then refund the fee if its not listed are clearly charging a listing fee, not a review fee.
But its only a minority i think that dont give a full refund, and if its a real review then the reviewer should then provide a personalised break down for the submitter, even if its a rejection, showing the strengths and weaknesses and other things. Keeping part of the fee = taxing, used to happen when i was at school between pupils, ie: mugging. Reviews = someone checked something then wriote up a review about it and publish it to one or many. Reviews, usually done for free or for a freebie from a company in some cases. Reviews, an ideal label for what we do? i dont think so personally.
I review the core fee. Eg the $5.95 in my case for ZD. The rest is for deep links/featured links. If I refund the extra fee I explain in paypal.
Bad advice pipes, the OP asked of the risks if any, you come shouting off 'you can do what the hell you like!" but in the same breath then come and repeat what I said only you waffled on a bit more.
Links that are paid for are evaluated by Google based on the purpose of the link. If the link was purchased purely for page rank and to manipulate the SERPs - they frown on that. As a rule the penalty, if any, will be against the seller and the buyer gets impacted mainly as having purchased a link that no longer has the value they thought they had paid for. (If Google penalized the link purchaser, it would be easy to destroy a competitor by simply buying links for them.) Links that are paid for, that are of an advertisement nature, are seen more favorably by Google and will typically not incur any penalties. There has been a trend among directory owners to charge for "reviews". The problem is that many have latched onto this concept without understanding what a review should entail and are in truth still selling links for PR purposes. A review should be just that and should include a hand-written, custom description for websites being submitted. When you purchase links on directories, or any other type of site for that matter, you have to determine if the link being offered is for advertising purposes or simply page rank. If for page rank, chances are getting better that the seller will sooner or later feel the wrath of Google. If for more "pure" reasons like advertising or a true review then Google really should have no issue whether the link is paid for or not.
Buying/Selling links are strictly prohibited by Google. So if you buy links from a high PR page directory - there is every chance of you getting penalized. But if you apply/submit for a site review on a quality directory for "listing" - Google has no problem whatsoever with it.
still very much a newcomer here, so far after trawling many threads, indy thats the best advice I have seen yet.
These statements seem a little cavalier to me. Here is why. Surfers are not the only people that make up the pool who use directories. Website owners who may want to submit sites for review and inclusion make up those people you are making your directory for. Seems to me that most people that submit to directories would like for thier link to be indexed. So to make it for people you need to keep search engines in mind as getting your site banned or punished for violating the search engines guidelines you are not serving the needs of the people who would like to use your directory. Does that make sense?
Makes perfect and complete sense to me, as loads of people are always saying that old make sites for people thing, and if misunderstood and not keeping in mind the search engines and other things then it can easily go bad, as stated. Its like when people say content is king and lots of it, but personally, lots of content and crap content i think is a waste of time, id try and work towards a modest amount of regularly added content, that looks natural and is of use to a site user and baits se spiders without looking bad.
Not ever. Google cannot penalise a directory if it charges for review. Will it penalise the web hosting company for charging to host the site? No. It shouldnt penalise sites based on what services they offer.
