DMOZ verification - How long?

How long does it usually take to get added to the open directory (DMOZ)? I submitted my site about a week ago and have heard nothing and my site has not been included in the listings.

As I understand it this is quite an important backlink to get so I want to get my site included if I can.....

    Thanks

you must be from another planet .......!!!

it takes at least between MANY months to a year, but more likely you'll be never added

really!?!?! That's shocking! I can't see why I wouldn't be added. My site advertises my wedding video company and there are almost 400 other sites doing the same already listed on there. I would hope that I would be included the same as them

"Up to two weeks or more" I believe is the official statement on the matter. And it would be correct. Some sites have been added within hours. Others have taken years... still more never make it in.

Submit and forget, or forget to submit... the wait time is the same.

A site such as a wedding video comapany if it is based in (or serves) a distinct geographical area can also be listed in a Regional. Scroll down through http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/ and find the specific locality/area that relates to the site and submit it there. This effectively doubles your chances of a timely listing and some parts of the regional directory are not so overwhelmed by submissions.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think I should push my luck. It says somewhere that if you try to list in multiple categories then you could get your site banned.

The category that I have chosen is as specific as I could get it (wedding videos in the UK) and so I hope that it will be included when they get around to it....

You can have one regional, and one regular.

Nebby may be a troll, but she is still an editor for the project. You can pretty much trust her unless she's making personal jabs (or replyying to me).

What kind of answer are you expecting?

"between now and never" is not truthful enough for you? That IS the only answer!

I seconded that... DMOZ has no system.you can even have your site listed after couple of months even you did not submitted your site to them...

Actually, in many cases (if not most cases) the best way to get a listing is for an editor to find your site outside the submission queue. In some cases, the best way to not get a listing is to submit. Paradoxical?
