#1 by far IMO. The second one kind of falls apart visually, #1 has s certain continuity.

Not a massive fan of the colour choice, that green doesn't seem to match the orange/turquoise (which work excellent) and is kinda throwing the whole thing off a little.....maybe a yellow instead?

I'd also make the "The Betting" and the rectangle containing "B L O G" the same width, they're so close but not quite equal.

A lot of potential here, just a couple things that limit from what it could be. Nice work, good luck on the contest!

I agree with the points innovati made. I'd also add that the colors look a bit washed out, so the logo probably wouldn't stand out much on a site. I'd make everything much more vibrant with saturated colors and bold typography.

    #1 definitely.
change the fonts, theyre too thin and quite hard to read.
No need to drop-cap "T" in "The" as its making the text unbalanced.

Yellow, since it carries negative connotations, shouldnt be used in logo designs unless absolutely necessary, or if is used to color positive symbols like the sun/sunlight etc.

    great start dude!

Just 1 point, you have to connect between Shape and text. Is there any relation between shape you made and "Blog" or " Betting" ?

Hope help, and happy contest.. :)

A drop cap is when the first letter of a paragraph of text is larger, also called and embellishment.

What the 't' in The is doing is called Small caps, and it's actually not the 't' but the other letters that are in small caps.

How Small Caps differ from using the capitals of a smaller point size is: True small-caps will be shorter than capitals of the same size, but the thicks in the letterforms are the same width as the capitals.
