I just spoke with a domainer who passed on the following info from his lawyer. Follow these steps to help retrieve your stolen domain names: *File a police report. *Mail the police report copy in a certified letter to the GoDaddy legal department. *File a small claim against GoDaddy in the small claims court (no lawyer needed), low filing fee too. ($20 -$100, I think) *If GoDaddy doesn't have a rep show up to the hearing you should be able to get your names back. I am going to file my claim tomorrow and keep you all updated!
I just found this Google archived page showing the profile on desihackers that was tring to sell many of the stolen domain names He also is selling PayPal information. Link to the scammers profile
Isnt Avis03 the handle Mehboob has been using on DP???? What a strange coincidence, I still dont believe that guy, there has to be a connection __________________
I have no clue but I assume that it is not Mehoob. I think the only connection is that he knows we suspect Avis and so he is doing his best to mislead us.
He is trying to throw us off......take a look at the latest on this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=700052&page=10 We have him out in the open now and he is trying to dodge the bullet!!
My only update is that I reported the whoIs info as being invalid. They have investigated and found that I was correct, the registrant info is invalid, so they took them back. Now they say I need to log into my account and change the whois back to my valid info.. Problem is the names aren't in my account anymore.. And they know that, I feel like they are pushing me around in circles, with them holding onto my names in the middle. If they list my names for sale on TDNAM I will see to it that everyone in the world knows what they have done. WE will see.
One of my stolen domains, GJRF.com, is now listed on this site: http://www.llgoo.com/bbs/archiver/tid-3150.html I am tyring to find out what language it is now, so that I can translate the text. EDIT: It is Simplified Chinese. The info does not mean much. It just lists out the domains that got dropped on 7/20/2007. I bought it after that time, I just now found out what it was. Ohh well, thought I had something.. LOL
any updates? I hope you guys haven't given up on these! It can't be too late to recover these or at least make the thief pay!
If you take a look at the last couple of pages here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=700052 You will see that most of the domains have been found and are in the hands of another innocent party who purchased them from the scammer. Problem now is that he will not return them to the owners until they pay him the amount he paid the scammer!! Kind of a catch22 situation, I don't want to pay for domains that I have already paid for that have been stolen from me and he doesn't want to give them away having paid for them!
We should report him here: http://www.fbi.gov/majcases/fraud/internetschemes.htm http://www.ic3.gov/ - "The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C)."
I have reported him to The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). I have kept them informed of everything I have discovered to date. I think it needs ALL of those who were scammed and who's domains are now in this guy's possession to make a complaint. The more noise we make the more likely they are going to listen.
