Vent: I am so SICK of people using domain parking!

    Aaaaaaaaargh!

Can I just vent a minute? Thanks! :)

I am so freakin' frustrated with people buying up really good domains and parking them. Letting them sit there and do nothing.

I make websites. Whenever I type in a good domain, it's always taken. I think it's absolutely 100% fine if someone took the time to put up a nice website on the domain.

But whenever I type in the url to see what's on these "taken" domains, they're just parked there. Doing nothing.

And webmasters like me are beating their head on the desk saying to themselves, "I have a great website for this stagnant, parked domain. And I'm not going to pay a thousand dollars to build it here."

I know *why* people buy great domains and park them. They want some rich fool to buy it off of them. But it's just SO frustrating to see people holding onto these domains they'll never use!

Okay. I'm done venting. I know... I know... it's just buisness.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

does my head in as well, it would annoy me less if they put a better page there instead of just the standard template of ads.

I know what you mean! Every time I have an excellent idea for a site, this exact same thing happens. I hate these damn domain squatters. I mean I used to do it too, but then realized that you can't make shit parking domains, you might as well develop them and then sell them.

and also the worst thing when searching for a domain is when you find an awesome one but leave it a day or two to make sure its the one you want and then when you get around to buying it someone has took it!!

...or the worst is when you settle for a lesser domain. And then you develop a nice site. And it finally gets ranked on the search engines. And then the really great domain you wanted becomes available.... after it's too late.

Yeap same for me, the Internet actually has a lot of dot coms to spare, it is the result of hoarding by such speculators that makes the good dot coms virtually disappear. Imagine the frustration when you are searching for something and always end up in the landing page.

I dunno, I see it as more positive. If I decide on a nice name for a domain and check the availability. If the .com and other extensions are parked but there is a spare extension I know my choice of a domain won't have any competition any time soon :D

gaaah, I went on a domain name splurge a while back, and almost every single domain name i could think of that was decent....was parked. And a few of them were owned by single people who had a few thousand other domains parked. Almost started pulling hair out until i found one that wasnt parked lol :p
but yea, I feel your pain :( specially when you have a good idea for a domain and its freakin parked >.<

Most cases I just took out a biz or info as there are some left, but it is very bad, resources are taken up and just park there with no usage, while the actual ones who can use have to look elsewhere.

I hate it too, except for when I started to find domains expiring and being dropped. I started to pick up domains that I've wanted for the past year or so. Webmaster Buzz was a dropped domain, and so was Fireball Host. Hopefully though, some of my gaming domains that expire this year do so I can get them.

I hate this to. there stupid newbies, who dont know crap about computers, and don't think about the people who trully need these domains. If they really wanna make some money, make something out of the domain you bought!!! then, come here, and sell it. its way faster, but what these people want is quick money! no work= no money
