Safely remove hardware

    What does this do? What will be the difference if you safely remove an external hard drive opposed to just unplugging it?

    If data is being written on that hard drive when you remove it, there may be problems, such as errors or corrupted information

    all you have to do is to turn off your computer before remove hardware :D

    Have had to just unplug a few times and do not seem to of had any serious side affects or lost data.

    I never do it..... Very rarely (once in a lifetime) ....

    No point in doing it, just wastes 10 seconds of my life :p
