Pinging service legal from seo point of view?

    I went to http://www.pingomatic.com There i saw the option of Services to Ping which had
    1.Weblogs.com
    2.Feed Burner
    3.PubSub.com
    4.BlogStreet
    5.Icerocket
    6.Blo.gs
    7.NewsGator
    8.Blogdigger
    9.Moreover
    10.News Is Free
    11.Technorati
    12.My Yahoo!
    13.BlogRolling
    14.Weblogalot
    15.Topic Exchange

    1.What are these????Can you pls explain and what they do to get traffic?
    2.Also if a check all the boxes......do i have to register with each on of them before?
    3.Do i have to place a link to each of these services on my blog in return?
    4.Is this kind of traffic legal as well?

    These are simply networks and directories and maintain catalogs of blogs.

    No, you do NOT have to register with each of them. The directories really don't care if you are registered, they just take the ping and then add the latest info to their directory.

    No, you do not have to place a link to each of these services.

    I don't understand your question about if this traffic is legal. Why would it not be legal? I'm not aware of any kind of web traffic that the cops will show up and throw you in the slammer for. This is kind of a goofy question. I'm not sure what you are afraid of. :confused:
