it is good to have also backlinks from pr0 sites. Not penalized so easy. If google see only pr6 what happened then?

I find myself paying less and less attention to PR. I too get a lot of link exchange requests and I almost always rely on the quality of the site. A PR0 is like a penny stock - if it has good fundamentals it's worth investing in -

I agree. When looking at a link exchange I look at the quality of the site and its relevance to mine. In my opinion PR means less and less. I have a site that is only PR3 is ranked #1 on G for many very very competitive real estate keywords and gets over 1 million page views a month. I outrank sites with higher PRs. Which would you rather have...a high PR or a lot of traffic?

I know what you say but hell some people are amateurs

    Others are profesional

The amateurs dream of making real money
    Pro's make them

Oh well PR is olmost = to 0 for me

I have been refused as some sort of link exchange... I guess my PR rank is still quite low...

Look at their meta keywords tag and see how well they rank. If they have a good ranking, then go for it if you are into reciprocal links.

    @ roentarre

I look at this way. If a site is new, has PR NR or PR 0, I would spend the first couple of months submitting to web/article directories, do some social bookmarking, etc. While doing this, I would also be working on my content - giving something more for my visitors to sink their teeth into while gaining rank for that page. Before you know it you've got more content and pagerank. Then go on your reciprocal link exchange hunt. You would probably get more link exchanges doing it this way.

As I noted in a previous post, I get a lot of link exchange requests a day. Some sites are either brand new or banned sites because they don't even show up in Google with the site operator. :( Some want to stuff your link on a page with 100's of other links, many of which are not even remotely related to my niche.

It may also have something to do with, (if you are talking about the blogs in your sig), that all of your blogs are on free hosted domains.

I personally never expected to get a serious link from anyone, other than free hosted blogs, when I had one.

And I find it hard to link to free hosted blogs because they have nothing invested. The blog is not theirs, and it could be lost or abandoned at any time.

This is just my opinion, but if you want a permanent link from me, at least invest a little money and show me that you're serious and plan to be around for a while.

So what are you complaining about if it only takes you three days to get a pr4? Wait for a few days and then do the link trade.

Thanks for the effort to explain to me. I think I will start working on web directory first and see how it goes. All the terminology used here are a little overwhelming :)

Definitely, you made a good point. I do have a blog in my own photography website that I put a bit too much money in it :) However, I had not promoted my own blog from my own website ... I think I should be working on that instead

Jean126, don't overlook the fact that there are lots of webmasters who just don't like reciprocal links. Period. I have less than ten of them on a 138-page website. I have no interest in enlarging the number of recip links. Many others feel the same way.

PR is nothing related to traffic and I feel more than happy if I have daily 100000 UIP than PR8.

    that's true. That's why I always accept pagerank1 sites when I exchange.

I think it's also important to ask if he is willing to make the trade now.

That PR3 site that got dropped to a PR2 could be a PR6 next month... then again, the newly aquired PR4 could be a PR3 tomorrow.

Personally, I tend to ignore PR and other rakining systems, as they all seem rather fake to me. I look at the quality of the site and ask myself "would a link from this site make my site look good" or alternatively "would linking to that site make me look bad" and often both questions.

Furthermore, if I find a site that is worth linking too, I'll often link too it, regardless of getting a link in return. I also hope that anyone that find my site worth talking about it will talk about it.

Presuming every person who receives the email is like you and understands what all that stuff means. I find that I often end up speaking to the sales department or the owner of the company, to whom terms like "pageviews" "PR", etc. are plain gibberish.

Me too laugh at those webmasters who need pagerank and not traffic they ask for pr2+ website even though if the website or the page they are linking has traffic or not.

They need pagerank within the next update and they dont care aboutthe traffic because they want to make money by selling links and not maintain the quality of the website bcause they are looking for Google Bot to get to there page and notthe traffic:))

when i opened my first site ever i emailed a guy so i could get a affiliate and he told me to come back when i have an actual page rank of 2 at that time i did not even know what a page rank was, so i improved my site and now every one wants a backlink.
