For instance google.com some say you have gogle.com I know google probably already owns that but let's just say someone does or any other typo domains. Is it profitable? It depends on if the non typo domain is really good then I suspect that it will be better. Im thinking about making one, I just need to know your opinions.
Yes because you get to steal some traffic Unfortunately, these traffic does not genuinely belong to your site
they are profitable only if you get some type in traffic... from the example you gave, the answer is yes. Like you said , it depends on the quality of non-typo domain..
typo domains can be profitable, especially if you have a lot of visitors. but a lot of people just correct the domain and move on to the desired site. i have a typo domain that gets around 50 visitors a month. traffic gets much higher around the holidays. very hard to monetize, and i would gladly sell it for the $9 reg fee I paid for it.
yes, I see a lot of typos before and it is profitable. even on DP you often see someone type "desing" and not "design" LOL..
I own a typo of a popular search engine (not google) gets around 500 UV per day. Not making more than a few bucks per day though.
how much can you be making a day for it. Im lucky if I get a doller a day with adsense! I think this thread is making me money, very nice!
well it depends on the domain and what are the key combo to determin the traffic you will get from such typo. some people they redirect this traffic to other sites. but also if you plan to host content for your site and if it is related to the original 'correctly typed site' then you might face some copyright /trademark issues etc.. is a short story you can get some decent traffic on some sites and make revenue.
The best ones are already taken. Your best bet is go after new sites that are starting to show a lot of growth.
They can only be as profitable as a typo domain. But there can be some profit. I just don't know if i would want to invest in a bunk domain name, unless it was something like gogle.com, youtueb.com or myspaec.com
Readezarchive, I have a typo domain that pulls from a fairly well known site to check your backlinks at. I only get between 50-80 hits a month on it. I still haven't monetized it yet for adsense but don't think that it would do all that much good with so few visits (at most what... $2 month?). I guess my answer to you would be that a typo domain is only good if it brings you a decent amount of traffic. I guess I could always redirect the traffic to another site providing the same service for a monthly price but even that would likely be less than $10/month. So in my situation it has not been profitable but I would bet that if you own googlee.com that you could possibly see thousands of visitors a month, certaintly worth the 9 dollar registration fee. Here's the problem: if you use a typo in your domain, yes, you may draw some traffic intended for the proper spelling. However, when people get to your deliberate "typo" page, what are they going to find there? If your page does not have the content they are looking for, poof! They're gone! Furthermore, if you try to SEO your page with the same typo in the text, that will lend the page an unprofessional look that will also probably drive people away quickly. Bottom line? Wouldn't it be better to take an honest run at creating a website that succeeds on its own merits, rather than on people's misspelling woes?
