I have great SERP in Yahoo and Google and almost all of my pages are indexed in both, but MSN has only 10% of my pages indexed and low positioning on many keywords. Complete opposite with my other site. Any hints as I don't like to leave any potential traffic behind.
Because Google, Yahoo! & MSN have different algorithms to provide search results you can't reall optimize for all 3, usually optimizing for Google will give you decent Yahoo! ranking as well, the issue with MSN\Live is it puts more attention to on-page optimization, unlike Google & Yahoo! who link a combination of on-page and off-page.
MSN is strange sincerly and it's to small to counts Not even compared with Yahoo wich is not even compared with Google
MSN looks at the Description Tag more than anything. Optimize your Desc Tags and make it keyword rich and juicy.
MSN read meta keyword tag also while google and yahoo does not give much importance to it.So give more focus on this tag.MSN also give importance to fresh content. As i have earlier said that MSN give more importance to keywords so try to put your keywords in the name of your inner pages.Like webdesign-services.htm, seo-services-india.This will certainly help you (if i am wrong please correct me...............)
Bizarrely one of my sites gets over 50% of its search engine traffic ffrom MSN, next is yahoo, then google, but i have no idea regarding optimising for MSN.
If you have great SERP's from the top two SE's then you shouldn't worry to much about MSN. Google alone owns about 60% of the SE market. I guess what I am saying is that be thank full that you rank well on Google and don't worry to much about MSN.
But if one day you get ruined in google then you will be glad of yahoo and msn, dont put all your eggs in googles basket.
I still remmeber in the recent past year I was on #1 for the keyword "search engine optimization" on Msn but lateron dropped these days msn is really a tuff search engine for optimization, Yahoo is easy one
It happens by accident for me in yahoo, whatever i do in google it seems similar results in yahoo, usually slightly higher and for higher search results, compared to google.
This is really bad advice. Dispite the fact that google owns a large search share msn still brings good traffic. As an seo then you should be targeting all search engines for the best results possible. Before MSN got rid of SubmitIt they had a simple system which was used to test if your site was 100% ready for their search engine. I can not remember all of the details, but here are some of the steps that were needed in order to pass. Let's say you want to target the keyword "old english" then you would need to do the following: The term old english would need to be in your title tag and your description. It would also need to be in your keywords tag. But more importantly that exact keyword needs to be some where on the page at least 4 times, anything less than 4 is not acceptable. There are also character limits but I can not remember what they are. If you follow those steps then you will do well on msn and any other search engine for that matter, provided that you also have good links pointing at your site. Hope this helps.
