    It is a non-comp term.....Just someone/nobodys name.

What would be the best way to blow it out the water ?

Would a contest work ? IF so.....please give me your thoughts on it.

or whatever ideas you have to offer on a way to get it done.

Im pretty open to offers :)

You mean you want to start promoting someones name or you want to rank higher than an existing site for someone's name?

The best way to take over a search term is to get one way backlinks. If the term is something obscure and the domain is available buy it and build one way links back to it.

There is a trend here and it's one way links :)

I agree, get inbound links with the search term as the anchor text. If you don't have the domain then try to get one with the search term in it.

Send me a PM with the exact details of what the search term is and what you want done and I can give you an idea of what price you would be looking at.

If you want to drop a particular site off the front page of Google, you'll need to have a bunch of sites optimised to your name.

Some of these you could buy, create a basic page and then point a bunch of oneway links to it

You could also set up profiles for your name on sites like Linkedin - these usually rank pretty highly for non-competitive names...

If you PM me the search term you want to target I'll take a look at how easy or hard this might be and let you know some ideas. If you'd rather someone tackle this for you I can quote a price depending on how much work might be involved.

If the name is not too competitive than you can take it over by put up a blog, squidoo lens, myspace page, articles and social bookmarks.

i've considered doing the same but i'm worried i might end up promoting the site i want to overtake
for example if the site is www.ukgolf. com
and i do backlinks with anchor text "ukgolf" or "uk golf" could i be promoting their site?
my aim is i want to kill this site and be no #1 for their own search term :D would be great if it is poss

You would only be promoting them by doing that if you use their URL in the links, that is if you start adding links to ukgolf.com. You need to be adding links to another site (your site) targetting the search term term.
