Of course it would only be to the "right buyer". Most people wouldn't spend $500k on a site (the ones that would would be the ones that tend to not have the money). A site like v7n.com isn't a site you can just throw on a web host and sit back and collect revenue, so yeah... the buyer would need to know what they are doing, and *hopefully* have some sort of experience running a large forum/site. To all of those that think I should buy it... Because I have so much free time to run another site/forum? lol Uhm no thanks... I wouldn't buy it for $10k (that has nothing to do with it not being worth $500k, just has to do with my personal ability/desire to manage another forum/site).
I am not that active on that forum (less active than this one) but been a member on it since it was www . internet-marketing-research . com - I don't even know if that one is still with him. Scott though is a very nice guy
Yes I understand directories is now a big business and it's not that fair anymore. But if this guy is still making money off them, this won't suddenly stop And guys, 500k is a BIN price. It won't go at this price if noone still made a bid. most likely will go for 250k or even less. However, sites like that usually cost something near their 5-year income, calculated on the last year earnings. For this one 500k is quite fair price.
omg, it's #1 with keyword webmaster forum on google.... And bidvertiser is #3 with Internet Marketing OMG
Kind of off-topic, but if people are searching for "internet marketing" or "webmaster forum", they probably already know about v7n (or Digital Point for that matter). The real traffic (for Digital Point anyway) comes from Google searches on random things... A few searches each bringing 2000+ visitors in the last week: [search=google]how to hack a website[/search], [search=google]gooogle[/search], [search=google]www.hotmail.co.uk[/search], [search=google]microsoft sam[/search], [search=google]movieforumz[/search], [search=google]adult youtube[/search], [search=google]hottest girl in the world[/search] So yeah... it's the random stuff that you can't predict that ultimately brings the bulk of the traffic.
Hottest girl in the world? on a webmaster forum? And we've been spending time on Match.com all this time.
Although it's a steal, I bet a large majority of it's traffic comes from Google. Now imagin you purchase the site and a few weeks later you find the site has managed to gain some sort of penalty or it's rankings have lowered. That would be rather harsh knowing you have paid so much. I'm sure this will not happen though. 500k is not a bad price I guess, good luck to him and his future I say.
VBSEO is a software, I'm sure Shawn has customized DP where we may have our own version of SEO and you just don't know it yet
Do not get vbseo, its the biggest scam on the net really. I had it and got rid of it and I have 24,000 indexed pages took 3 months just to get every page reindexed as vbseo urls. If vbulletin thought such urls were important they would have already included it in their system.
It figures on the "how to hack a forum". I have seen a few titles on threads to reference to that. Incredible what junk lands on great forums. But I have to check out that microsoft sam one to see what that one is about. But anyways, I am sure that John has a set price. Maybe he is placing a high amount in hopes to meet his set price. Obvious selling practice. Maybe I would think $150k to atleast $325k at the highest. But why at sitepoint. I know they have some high sales. But I would think he would advert more towards companies vs individuals.
I agree with you lpstong. Some marketing or seo/webdesign company could pay more for a site network like that.
