The current revenue will only allow you to break even and if it dips your're out of luck buddy.

Why not some people earn more than $100k monthly here,
This looks like a long-term investment, but if you are experienced ceo you may get that forum better place than it was couple months ago.

Actually he really does not have to sell even if he is going back to school, just hire a few professionals to take care of the forums and appoint a few mods. This is recurring revenue, wasted to sell off.

If it was a proper business, then yes he could easily pay someone to run it. In reality the captain's jumping from a sinking ship before it goes down - he knows full well the business model is not a viable long term one with most of the revenue coming from directory submissions.

Yes the most revenue comes off the directory submissions, but you know, internet is an infinite loop, people always make websites, and if they submitted somewhere with success, they will remember it and do it again.
Money flow won't be always the same but it will be solid for sure.
On the forum he told he has staffing problems so it's hard to hire someone to run the v7n, you need some good and experienced guy to do marketing, usually this kinda guys work somewhere else or run their own websites :)

I don't think staffing is an issue, I am running an Internet company, just publish an advert in the local newspapers, there will be a lot of applicants, choose and interview them to get those suitable ones. It is never difficult.

Sorry but I don't agree with you in one thing. Directories are dead and most experienced webmasters know that. About 2 years ago webmasters would even recommend to their clients buying a few good directory links, nowadays it's exactly the opposite.

Google dictates the rules and these things change overnight.

It has been an amazing work at the network. Im sure the buyer will get his money worth.

Wonder where is he(owner) heading after the sale? Retire with half a million?

There's the problem. The forum is not a turnkey business. Marketing & Sales plus bandwidth will cost more than the current revenue. So where is the ROI on $500,000?

I definitely would purchase it if I had the money. Even if I thought I could get a business loan, it might be worth it as long as you make the purchase under a company as it is somewhat risky. I have no doubt though that the website is currently profitting.

I think it is definitely worth the bin price, John did an amazing job with V7N and it really came as a shock that he is selling V7N.

That's why I said "for the right buyer". I wouldn't buy a restaurant at any price because I don't know anything about running one...ie I wouldn't be the right buyer.

That is what puzzles me a bit, With the money he's making every month. He can hire employees to take care of his site.

If I had a site with 40K members, I would never sell it.

I'm having difficulty getting to your blog. I do think it is an interesting issue, even if you are a bit late on it. ;)
