Well, this is a matter of perspective. How many virus, defrag issues, and other MS garbage do you have to put up with because Microsoft products are insecure?
I don't mind saying that I live in a bus, barely pay my bills online...and paid $500 last April for this 800mhz G4 laptop with 1gig Ram and 80 gig hard drive. I'll be upgrading by-and-by, but I'm not in any hurry...it is well known that a Mac runs faster than a PC of matching processor speed. I'm not the only one, either.
I guess you can buy a new windows machine with those specs...but how many will have that kind of resale value in 6 years? How many will even survive that long?
Having broken three or four PCs, I've only had one Mac that was ever prone to ANY kind of mechanical failure...and that was a rebuilt piece of junk.
BTW...if you think that, oh, Shawn Hogan, knows anything about computers...check this out

I am using windows 2000 because I can't be bothered to buy a new PC >.<
I would probably perfer the Mac OS X leopard just because it looks nice, it has a cleaner feel and it's different.

Well, it's very stupidly expensive, at least here. There isn't even an Apple Store here, there are just people that sell imported Macs for about 3000$.

I guess in America is a lot cheaper :p

Anyway, I haven't tried a Mac in my entire life. I hope someday I will.

Try e-bay. I saw a killer G4 laptop loaded with all kinds of premium apps BIN for about $380 the other day.

Macs are generally hardier than low-end WinTels and last longer, so used is a great option for me...of course, I also drive a twenty-one year old bus.

But if price is the factor, I would and have with cash in hand chosen a four-year old mac over brand-new Toshiba or Acer...because OSX is more intuitive and secure than windows. When it came right down to it, the virus vulnerablilty alone made it the sensible choice, plus Macs have the ability to run Windows (for a price) but I do not see Wintels able to run OSX.

Value is about more than price.

WHY would anyone use mac?! for someone like me who wants to use many programs they are just not compatable, i dont want a stupid unupgradable, out of date, fashion accessory of a computer, i've used mac at my college and it drives me insane! so what if they're slightly more reliable and a bit safter online... mac is so stupid to use, their whole entire user database is made up of people who can't turn thier computer on... MS products have flexability, usability, easily upgradable, more affordable, macs should ONLY be used by people who dont use computers for a job or even personal enjoyment... i can't see how anyone with any common sense would chose a mac over a windows OS... its just a pretty piece of furniture... i also wonder why mac users are SO defensive over thier computer, always boasting they have a mac and not a windows then go on complaining about why windows sucks... oh yes .... it would have been a GREAT idea to HAVE A MIDDLE AND RIGHT CLICK button on a mouse!

ps. linux is OK, just not compatible with much, good for servers.
