Hello, I want to start promoting some affiliate programs via adwords but do not want to create my own landing pages but only directly transfer the person to the affiliate page(with my affiliate id). I assume my adwords score would be much higher this way because of high targetted pages - so i wouldn't have to do any optimization on my own. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you
You can directly link to a site you are promoting and this does work. However, the problem is Google's one domain rule. If there is someone already promoting the site then you'll have to bid higher than them for your ad to show up and then you will have to have a solid click through rate to stay there. Having said that, direct linking is a great way to get up and running fast and to find out what works and what doesn't.
thanks espresso! so you would recommend doing it that way instead of messing with my own landing pages?
also, i tried to sign up with cj.com but they require you to have a website, so how do i get around it in this case? thanks
with CJ you need to have a legit domain, with content. Many advertisers will deny your request anyway if you don't have a physical domain. If you want to avoid the one domain rule, buy a domain and redirect the domain to the affiliate home page.
so basically my domain will be showing on adwords...for example domain 55555.com will be showing on adwords but the landing page will be 77777.com ...is that right?
correct, but since the review is done at the text ad level you need to make sure the display domain works.
redirect domain will not work, google will stop your ad. either you outbid the other advertiser, or create your own LP
CJ is very vast..i signed in couple of weeks ago with dummy websites with my figment of imagination...however, an year ago, they were very strict..now it seems they don't care..cos lots of compitition for them too...nor does the advertisers..as i got approved for 5 sites in two days..with all keywords links approved. It all become very EASY now...cos what now matters is MONEY and money alone and nothing else..no one really cares..even google will pass you through if you bid higher and higher. I was also in that thinking mode what to do this and that..once i got through all the formalities...only thing worries me is my credit card balence..MAKE SURE..you got lots of money to play in adwords...its really not gambling..but after few months you will know its gambling..offcourse..you need skills..but you will learn it AUTOMATICALLY..once you start putting your money in adwords..just like in gambling..but still there is 100% chance that you will succedd in google..cos no one looses here
Who says it does not work? It works thats why goolge gave you " destination link" Who is so dump as to say it doesnt work? Not all mechants on Cj will approve your affiliation with them, new mechants will approve you...cuz they need affiliates fast...older mechants higher epc, will definitely look for better websites.
ok guys thanks for the help! so the following is what i need to do and please correct me if im wrong: my ad on adword will for example say: Refinance your mortgage mortgage made easy get your quote today www.111111.com but once they click on it they will actually land on www.222222.com (merchant page) instead of my own domain(www.111111.com). But I need to create some kind of content on my 11111.com and offer that product with the redirect to www.22222.com in case cj.com or whoever checks is that right?
The display URL needs to contain content for Google to approve the text ad, then you set the destination URL at the keyword level. Even if you do this, it doesn't mean CJ will approve, thats up to the retailer if they like your content.
gotcha, thanks! so would starting off with clickbank be easier to pull this off? or is there any other affiliate network you would suggest. once again, thanks alot!
just try any affiliate network, but the general advice I give anyone getting into affiliate marketing is choose a product you are familiar with and don't just follow the crowd. Being different is what makes you successful. If you are into bicycles, then affiliate program with bicycle companies, get what i mean.
How many things are you familia with? i will say very little, lets say you are not an expert in anything....does that mean you cannot promote affiliates? do not i repeat, do not limit yourself to one thing......I will advice you though, to promote one affiliate at a time if you are using adwords, make it work for that affiliate before promoting another one....Choose affiliates who offer leads often rather than sales.......it is easier for people to get free information rather than to pull out their credit cards. The bottom line is, if you have a website which you can use in your account with cj, use it or perhaps if you have a friend who can give you permision to use his website, use it. If a mechant approves you, check their network statistics, look for mechants paying leads. One mechant i will recommend is stubhub.com they have a high convention rate. However, you must graduate from directing straight to a mechants website. This method is only an entry level into affiliate marketing. Get on building websites and provide good quality content for your visitors, then recommend the mechants related to what your website is talking about. You dont have to write the content yourself. Research what you want to build your website around and then get experts to write the content for you.....you can also get some one to design your website if you cant do it yourself. There is no fix fee, providers will bid for your project thats how you do it. Your www.111111.com domain is your display domain and www.22222.com will be the mechants domain which takes the person to the mechants website. You are using your own display domain only if no other affiliate is promoting that mechant.....using the mechants domain......google will not pernalize you for using your own domain name. thats why they have destination links. I promoted stubhub.com using my own domain name kisita.com. It redirected to stubhub........ Goog luck.
Intresting, I think I've the same question as the topic starter. So If I'm correct I could do this: I am an ebay affiliate through cj.com. Can use the following adwords campaign? Head: Discount GSM auctions! Text1: Very cheap GSM phones Text1: at our live auction, buy now Visible url: ebay.com Destination url: this-is-my-cj-affiliate-link-to-ebay Is that possible? Won't I be penalised by ebay for using their domain as visible url? And will Google allow me to do this?
You will not be able to use ebay.com as your display url because someone else is already promoting ebay using ebay.com You can use ebay in your ad copy since it is a big name...people recognise it. If no one was using ebay.com then you could have used. There are so many people who are ebay affiliate, but only one person is using ebay.com ..perhaps ebay itself. Or you can replace the person using ebay.com buy out bidding the person. Google gives priviledge to the persona who has a higher quality score though. You can write like five different ads to test which one gets more clicks...e.g Ebay GSM Auctions Buy Bid Or Sell. Registration is Free Enter Now. www.domainholder.com http:ebay123id=domainholder.com
