Yeah.. I have a 1u server if i do decied to colo it, if their is a hardware fault will the data centre repair it and fix it up? thanks.
I suggest you ask them. Some will fix it for you for a fee and some will just tell you to send them new parts or fix it yourself.
Last time I looked at colo'ing a server it was cheaper to get a dedicated one. That was here in Canada at least.
Agree, the best way is ask your Data Center. If you wish they can help you fix it automatically, the colo price will be more expensive than lease a server from them.
I would colo a server if I (or someone I knew) could manage everything but for someone who needs help managing the server it would most likely be a better option to lease. if you want your own server due to worries about the content that stored on it just read through the TOS for some dedicated servers and you'll find that you are pretty safe.
thats one of the cercerns. also I'm going to put about 2GB worth of MY files on there and I don't want to do it remotely.
Well if that's the case then I guess it could be worth it. Not sure I'd go that way but to each their own I guess
