I was wondering what do you guys think about SMS Marketing? Do you think that if I had lots of opt-in cell phone numbers with their basic info (sex, age, location etc..), would people/companies be interested in sending sms to their potential customers?
Lot of people have to pay if you send them SMS. Once a company started sending me stuffs like that, I didn't like it.
I agree with bidzapbiz. I have already written to my cellphone provider saying that next time I receive a SMS advertising something I'd cancel my subscription with them. Its too damn annoying.
SMS is a terrible way and lawsuit waiting to happen if you send them unsolicited because your don't incur the costs the receiver does. I have been getting more and more as of late and with my jobs I am on the road or in the office on my cell phone or business phone a lot and I find it very annoying when I receive them from people I don't even know. Working in the music industry I get them from people promoting albums probably 2-3 times a day and I go out of my way to report them because it costs me around 15 cents each time I get one and that adds up after awhile. I think from a business stand point also that it affects your product or website negatively because people hate to get them and when its your product you might as well just do old fashioned spamming through email because it is probably more effective.
Yes, but what if these people are willing to receive these sms? Also, what do you think it is a lot to charge around 30 Cents per message to the advertiser? For example, a cinema owner could send a message to specific (targeted) people interested in movies or those that live close to the cinema. Now the question would be, would you use this service if you were the cinema owner? By the way, I heard that it's only in the US that you get charged when receiving an SMS...that's ABSURD! lol. I am from Italy, and we pay when we send an SMS, not when we receive them.
Yea... It's really bad to know an incoming SMS is charged... If the people are interested in receiving the SMS, then the marketer in you will not, and should not, stop... Go ahead, but don't overdo it... 30 cents a message, I guess, is rather high... Cut it down a bit... If I had an upcoming movie that was already the Talk of the Town, I'd most likely use your service to send an SMS to people staying in the nearby areas...
What do you mean? Do you mean that I should not send them with the same message all the time? Or do you mean that the advertisers will not be interested in the service because the audience is interested in receiving an SMS...?
No... Don't overdo it means don't do it a lot... Don't send them so many advertisements that they start getting annoyed and opt out of your texting list... I hope that helps...
If they have signed up to receive them then go ahead and send them out maybe once a week max, but I know from experience I find them very annoying and so do most of the people you send them to.
