love it dream it PR it the search engine does not block them, it goes funtastic with any content, since "the web" is about info's doesn't it?
Reminds me of the days of SPEWS. One spammer on an IP range. Block the whole neighborhood. It really became a mess when the spammers started spoofing IPs and domains. (Which was years ago BTW) They had so many people hunting them down (incuding me) for damaging their business they went into hiding.
My sample size is quite large 10,000s Looking at the last hour (very up to date ) - again linked to sites only Top 100 by TLD 88 .com 5 .cn 3 .net 2 ip addresses 1 .info 1 .biz 1 .org 1 .tw By volume (Sample size for the last hour 476) 423 .com 20 .cn 9 .net 6 ip addresses 6 .biz 5 .org 4 .tw 3 .info Which means your filters are having very little effect on spam volumes to your client less than 1%. But what are the chances of false positives using such a technique? I hope your clients don't want to talk to the British Foreign Secretary http://www.davidmiliband.info/ or talk about any charitable work with Bob Geldof http://www.bobgeldof.info/
Its not if google likes it, its what PEOPLE like. Isnt that who you want at your site? people? In your own personal experience, how often do you go to a .info site? I personally have never typed out a url with a .info in it. I just dont know of any good ones. Maybe you can change that with the site your developing but IMO i say just pay the 5 extra bucks and go with a .com Good Luck
Here's a link to parking stats on 1474 names. This particular parking co only counts type-in and SE traffic. Look what extension is #1 http://jeffers.info/stats.jpg You will need to zoom in.
Don't hear what other says. If you want an .info domain extension, buy it. I think that Google likes it
If I see a website with a .info domain I consider it unproffesional. Any company, or business that can't afford to spend another 7$ for a .com I don't like Or if they aren't creative enough to think of a name that isn't taken.
I owned an info domain, after 2 weeks i'v bought the same domain only with a "-" between the keywords, and .com after 1 week all my site pages got index, and i got 3 times a vists from google. I think info sucks.
Agreed, i can't stand info extensions and have considered blocking all .info referrers from one of my sites because all i get is trackback spam, scrapers and bot registrations from them. The day they sunk the price to 99c it's devalued the extension to the point of no return.
I do not think the search engine has any problem with the .info extension. Infact web surfers do not have a problem with that extension as well. The important thing is what you do with the info domain.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=germany .info 4th out of 921,000,000 http://www.google.com//search?hl=en&q=spain&meta .info 2nd out of 625,000,000 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=south+africa .info 5th out of 266,000,000 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=amsterdam .info 3rd out of 200,000,000 Maybe Google doesn't dislike .info after all
I can't believe they used .info. How unprofessional. They should have paid a few million more for the .com.
Of course .com's are more popular, but no matter what TLD you still have to promote the site. Search Engines will still aknowledge you, because they look for content and keywords.
go to ww w.go ogle.co m "delete the spaces" search for "page rank".. you will find that ww w.prche cker.in fo "delete the spaces" is the first and top result there.. so .info is not a matter.. its great domains.. go on and buy..any help pm..
Your numbers are different from mine. Here are the info domains associated with attempted spams to my server during the few minutes I was checking those sites you mentioned and typing the rest of this message: 4be.info abrakadabra.info allgaeu24.info alphaone.info altadensidad.info anaturalchoice.info antwerp-shopping.info aussie-money-tree.info brainpan.info brush-studio.info charle.info creativeclosets.info familiesuhr.info farmavjeskyni.info flinders.info frotscher.info goldstockreview.info holzimport.info notlicht.info orangeindia.info peise.info peugeotclub.info romiir.info rri.info spw.info staugustinerealestate.info sybillenhof.info tilmanstone.info victoriaproperties.info warsteinerstuben.info If I can reduce spam by 1% at a stroke, that's a real cost savings and well worth doing. Never received a complaint about it, despite dealing with some very vocal complainers. Check the site, he uses a @parliament.uk email address. Nope, I am not aware of any of my clients that want to communicate with Bob Geldof via a fan site. Nor do I suspect that Bob Geldof uses a fan site email address.
